Product reviews...
This is another piece of stylish kit from SWANN.
But I digress. The first question that must be answered is "is it easy to use?" Too right, installing the drive into the caddy is a very simple operation, just pull off the rear cover, plug in and slide in your HDD(not supplied), secure it in with four screws(supplied), slide it back into the chassis, affix the rear panel with another two screws(also supplied), plug in the power supply and the USB cable, turn on the Caddy, (install the supplied Drivers if you are a Win98 user) plug it in, and then after a short wait you should be ready to go, barring the formatting of the HDD if you brought it Brand New.
Whilst the caddy is going there is only the slightest hum eminating from it, which can really only be heard in a silent room.
HDD/Data access times are of course entirely dependant on the type & speed of your HDD and obviously it will be slower with a 5400rpm ATA/33 HDD than with a 7200rpm ATA/133, but I found it to be perfectly OK to burn a DVD at 4x directly from the HDD using a 40GB 7200rom ATA/133 drive with no issues.
So all in all this is a great piece of kit and will be used often by myself.
