Shifting Stones product reviews

A game of tiles & tactics. Leave no stone unturned! Nine mystical tiles lie before you in a grid of rocky ruins. Rearrange the tiles to match one or more of the patterns in your hand. The catch is that you must sacrifice a card every time you swap or flip a tile. Carve out the most points and your victory is set in stone. Contents: 9 tiles, 77 cards, rules of play.

This was a "I'm buying this needed item and might as well buy something else so postage doesn't feel so expensive" purchase and I'm glad this is what I settled on. There are very few components to the game, the tiles, cards, player aids and rules. The nine tiles are placed at random in a 3 x 3 layout and all players get four cards. On your turn you can either score a card (if the tiles match the pattern on one of your cards), discard a card to fill a tile (they're all double sided) or discard a card to swap two tiles that are next to each other. Or, you can skip and draw two new cards and then next turn you must play cards.

What I like is you can have as many turns as you have cards, and if you're lucky you could score more than one card a turn. The cards are all worth different points, obviously the more points they're worth, the harder they are to arrange and other players could quite easily screw up your plans. I've played this multiple times and both agree that there is zero point in planning out your move because fellow players could completely rearrange the board, we always wait until it is our turn to even bother to look at our cards. I love how quick and easy this is to set up, takes almost no time at all and the gameplay works really well with so few components. This is another good time filler.
