The Edukators product reviews

Berlin student Jule is hopelessly indebted due to an accident she caused, hitting a rich businessman's limousine.

Evicted from her flat, she moves in with her boyfriend Peter and soon learns that Peter and his flatmate, Jan, are breaking into luxurious mansions at night. Instead of stealing or vandalizing, though, they carefully and ornately rearrange furniture and valuables and leave obscure messages.

Jule convinces Jan, who has a crush on her, to pay a visit to the villa of her creditor. A sexy, intelligent, adrenalin fuelled thriller about three young Berliners who take the law into their own hands.

The first thing you need to know about this movie is that it is spoken entirely in german. If like me you know a smattering of german then forget it because it will just trip you up and cause you to miss bits of the plot especially when things speed up. English subtitles are on by default so you can safely just hit play and sit back to watch one of the most interesting foreign films to hit our dvd players in the last year. It starts off a bit slow but rapidly builds up the pace as Jule gives in to her adrenalin rush and gets involved in a kissing session with Jan, best friend for 15 years of Peter his co-edukator and boyfriend of Jule. Because of this event her cellphone gets left behind at the scene of their current romp and from there grows a huge web of events and mistakes that rapidly spirals out of control putting all three young people in a very bad problem.
With a great new cast and some of the most thought-provoking plot elements I have seen in a while this is a stunning movie. Though I dont think it will ever really take off with the mass-market it is sure to be an art-house hit and is actually well worth seeing.
