Product reviews...
The bane of every parent's life is standing on toys - I honestly swear that they get together and plan out how to place themselves so that I can stand on, trip over, knock my toes, sit on, or have to pick up as many as possible in a day..... not the toys getting together to plot it - my children!!! Being that I am an organisation lover from way back - I absolutely requested the bigger storage box to store our Flexos in, and was very pleased to get it.
Once you have kids you need a lot of containers for things - and I liked that these looked and felt heavy and durable, as I have lost count of the amount of lids that have been sat on, stood on and bent to breaking point. Whilst I did not test the theory that it would withstand some of that, I do not doubt that it would. At a prices of $7 it is really good, and well worth the money I feel.
The container itself has the dimensions of around the size of an icecream container, but has a removable tray in the top, in essence creating extra storage. The tray has five different sized compartments that we found great sizes for the extra joiny things, tools and spares from sets. My girls wanted to sort all the dome colours out into the compartment but I decided that would be very tedious! The bottom bit is great, as the height of the container allowed us to store some creations, and with them being flexible, jiggle and tetris them in there. We stashed all the instructions in the bottom too - like we do with lego, and keep them all. The clips on the lid are nice and strong, meaning nothing is going to fall out.
This is an excellent item for Flexo owners, and being different to your normals sistema or other type brand - easy to remember what the container is for. We will definitely invest in others - and the other sizes too.
When it comes to small building blocks and toys storage containers are a necessity for keeping the parts in order and overall keeping clean. This is an excellent container for the Flexo pieces and the only criticism I have for it is the storage tray at the top could have been longer, in my opinion, to give more storage cubicles which would have allowed the pieces to be separated further but If that becomes too much of an issue there's always the possibility of upsizing to the larger container. The containers dimensions are 155 Ã- 230 Ã- 115 mm and it sure can fit a lot of pieces in it. We have the Crab ocean life kit, the Foil pack collection and one of the dome sets and they all easily fit within this container with a lot of room to spare.
It's easy to open with one single flip latch that opens the lid up and the lid closes fairly close to the top tray so even when the container is tipped over and back upright the pieces tend to stay within the allotted cubicles and to confirm I did purposely do this to test it out. It is sturdy, robust and has a clear transparent lid which makes it easy to view what's inside without having to open it up. As for the price, I find these to be great value for the cost and are well worth the $6.95 price tag.
I am happy with this product giving me the peace of mind that the pieces are stored away and when it comes to the children's many toys it helps to have all of the Flexo pieces stored away in their own container so they are easy to find when the kids want to play with them. With the sets we have so far this container is perfect but I can see once we start to build up more of a collection we will need to upsize containers or purchase another of the same. I recommend that if anyone is going to purchase Flexo sets than getting a container is a must.
Lets be honest if you are going to have any building creation in the house you need to have a container for it. Putting back in the box never works and in the end you have toys all over the floor and you eventually end up losing pieces either by sucking it up in the vacum or by kicking it under furniture for it to disappear for life.
When my husband saw this in the box of goodies from KR he tried to claim it but told him no it was for the Flexo to which he understood but he was still impressed with how sturdy it was and the size of it. It has two levels to it the base for all the big pieces and a shelf which has five different compartments which has been great to store the domes, multi tools and any left over tendons that we have. For the price it is a godsend and my hubby is wanting to buy for his various nerd items.
It is perfect for storing the items we have already built in as there is actually a lot of room down there. It is also great to keep all the instructions in - something that usually goes missing. The lid has a clip which shuts perfectly so no chance of anything falling out. It is actually an essential item that everyone will need if you have Flexo in the house. It kind of looks like a miniture tool box which is very cool and I love I can store away without needing to worry about it falling over and losing all the contents.
A must have item for anyone who is considering having building blocks in the house. Actually an essential item fall stop for anyone who has small items that need storing. Can not beat the price!
I'm getting to that stage where I don't just like containers to sort things into, but becoming a necessity as the kids get older and more and more things come in lots of small bits and pieces, getting this to review meant no struggle for me to find a container that might suit the task at hand, keeping these little bits together! The medium box is a good size, having three kids means I can put enough in this so as to keep them all happy but not so much as to overwhelm and potentially create a big mess. I like that the lid is connected to the box, so I don't need to worry about my youngest misplacing the lid, it also clips closed easily enough that my youngest can open and close it on her own but it is still firm enough to not pop open under duress.
There is an orange plastic tray insert, which I found very handy for sorting the tendons into their various size (something the kids aren't worried about sticking to), this has had the 'shake test' (shaking it to see if the parts move into the other sections) and it didn't quite pass when it came to the smallest of the tendons, which would mean more sorting now and then, but happily none of the tendons ended down in the big compartment. Being removable also means you can shift it to where you need it, make things just a little easier. About the only thing that I wish this container had, was a handle, simply because this is something that would be good for entertaining the kids when we're at hospital and specialist appointments and a handle would just add a little more ease to transport.
This is a decent sized and very sturdy box, the lid doesn't give me any concern of wearing out too soon and the small compartment helps make building quicker and easier. If you buy any Flexo products, make sure you add one of these, it is well priced for what you get.
This Medium Heavy-Duty Storage Bin from Flexo is the PERFECT size to store a few Flexo sets but not too large that it takes up a lot of space. My children have an Ocean Life Kit, the Builder Set and the Foil Collection and they easily fit in this storage bin with all the instructions too and there is plenty of room for more sets.
The bin is a decent size at 15 x 20 x 11cm and the removable orange insert smoothly glides from one side to the other to allow you to see what is in the bottom. The orange insert tray also is separated into 5 sections which means you can sort out bricks or tendons into their correct sizes (although as you can see by my photo my children don't have the same level as OCD as I do). I think the best thing about this storage bin is that the lid doesn't come off so there is no losing it.
The bin appears to be made of some very strong plastic and can easily withstand being dropped from a decent height onto tiles as we found out when my son accidentally dropped it off the table. Not only did the box not break but the lid didn't even come off.
If you are buying a Flexo set I would definitely recommend you get this storage box to go with it as it's built exactly for this job and is super sturdy and easy for kids to use which means no more "mummy, can you please open this".
My daughter's love LEGO and I love that they can be as creative as they like with it. What I don't like is seeing LEGO all over the floor so I was more than happy to receive the Medium Flexo Storage Bin. My girls have thoroughly enjoyed playing and creating with the Flexo sets so I told them that they had to put everything away in the Storage Bin so the parts (and there are some very, very, very small parts!) wouldn't get lost.
The Storage Box is 15 cm x 20 cm big and 11 cm deep with a clear lid and one orange clip. There is a removable bright orange insert with 5 compartments in total, 2 or which are slightly larger than the other 3. I found this great for storing the tendons and domes and it was easy for my girls to get to. The clip was easy to open and close and stayed shut with shaking and me turning it upside down. The Box was extremely sturdy although the lid did flex in if weight was applied and the insert wasn't in there. It also withstood my 30 kg daughter standing on it (for research purposes she told me!!)
Overall, this is a great box and one that I would recommend for Flexo and other small toys. It would be great to use when you're out and about as everything is contained. The only thing that I think could have improved the box would have been a handle somewhere. Apart from that, it's fabulous for keeping all your Flexo parts together and also has adequate room to store any instructions. Bonus points for being proudly make in New Zealand!
