Product reviews...
I have played a number of Trivial Pursuit variants, some authorised, some home-made, but this has to be one of the most dedicated, comprehensive and fun versions I have ever played. Full of questions I actually knew the answers to (much to the astonishment of my co-players, and the embarassment of myself), and a whole heapin' helpin' of ones that left me either stumped totally, or flopping around trying to get the names out. I DID know them, I could describe the scenes, the characters, even the scenes in detail... but do you think I could name the blue-skinned horned guy who greeted the droids at Jabba's door? Oh heck no! -grr-
I was very taken with the professional quality of the DVD, both in design, code execution, and general feel... it really did reflect a lot of effort by a dedicated team of professional developers... and it reflected that some people just need to hit the pubs more, they have even less of a life than me, to know all this stuff in the first place!
I was also very impressed by the playing pieces... the figurines are wonderful, and being metal should prove quite durable in the the long term, but also the novel way the wedges clipped into the base, and the subsequent removal at the conclusion of the game. Click in, nice little grip-ridge to clip them out again.
The rules are close, but not the same, as the standard TP rules, so PLEASE, if you do nothing else right, Read the Instructions FULLY, FIRST! otherwise you might find yourself LOSING wedges throughout the game for opening your mouth at the wrong time... but you could also find yourself gaining some bonus wedges as the result of your opponent's lack of knowledge or attention.
Overall, a wonderful game, full of laughs and fun, and some 'negotiation' as to the required level of detail for the answers. A group of friends could be more lax, whereas a real challenge for the die-hard Star Wars fanatic. If you only ever decide on one TP variant to have and to hold... and you are even slightly a Sci-Fi nut... this is a great choice. Be confident, the Force is with you on this.
Whilst I have never really played Trivial Pursuit, I am the sort of person who does like these knowledge testing games, and for all those people out there who fancy themselves as a bit of a Star Wars know-it-all then this is the game for you.
This version contains everything from the 6 movies from the likes of who said what line, to naming the scene from a verbal/written description.
The gameplay is very much standard Trivial Pursuit with the exception that to gain a wedge you answer a special question from the DVD rather than a select group of cards. This allows much more interaction with the inclusion of video clips and soundbytes from the 6 films.
Contained on the DVD are 20 'games' each game containing a set of questions for each of the 6 Topics then there is the "Go for the Win" Question for when you have all 6 wedges and you land on the center circle.
I must confess I am a Star Wars Junkie, I quite often will go back and watch the films just for the sake of it, but even so I was stumped on some of the questions contained in this delightful game.
I also have to give full credit to the designers of the 4 tokens molded into 4 of the Star Wars characters.
I can see this is one game I will be playing alot of, especially when my kids are old enough to understand the questions (they already watch the movies and love them).

Sam Fisher is the leader of the newly formed 4th Echelon unit: a clandestine unit that answers solely to the President of the United States. Sam and his team must hunt down these terrorists by any means necessary, and stop the Blacklist countdown before it reaches zero.
