It hasn't been until more recently that I have started to enjoy wine. In my younger days (man I do feel old saying that) I really couldn't stand the flavour of wine, but they do say that your taste buds change as you get older, and I'm certainly starting to do that. Because I haven't had much experience with drinking wines I am enjoying trying many different varieties so when the chance came up to request some products from Wuthrich Wines I had everything crossed that I would be successful. Being a big fan of lemoncello this particular variety stood out the most, so in my request went. Fast forward a few weeks and my parcel arrives and I was pleased to discover the bottle inside.
Very fittingly I was heading to my partners for tea tonight, and on the menu was lemon chicken (as he recently found a recipe to make his own sauce from scratch when I was away and had wanted to make it for me as it's one of my favourite meals). Lemon chicken and lemoncello just seem to be a match made in heaven to me! We popped the bottle in the freezer to chill briefly while dinner was cooking, and once it was ready we served it over ice (as recommended in the description above for this product).
As my partner poured it into a glass there was definitely a very distinct wine smell to the drink. It had a lot of bubbles in it, which I love as I do tend to prefer sparkling wines. It smelt reasonably sweet, but not in a too sickly sweet way either. As we both tried it we agreed that it definitely has an over riding taste of wine, and neither of us could really taste anything remotely lemoncello. However this didn't matter - we both loved it! It was light, sparkly and just the right amount of sweet. It is definitely perfect served over ice, and would make an amazing drink to enjoy on a hot summers evening (which we hopefully have lots of them coming our way soon!). It is a product I would definitely buy again, and would be one of the favourite wines I have tried so far. Thank you Wuthrich Wines!
