There is nothing better than lying on the couch with the fire going, rain falling outside, chips and dip and pizza on the table and the family together ready to watch a movie. Both of my girls have never seen Woody Woodpecker before where as my husband and I grew up with him so I was interested to see how the girls reacted and too see if he was as good as I remembered.

Within the first five minutes I had predicted the outcome of the movie and I was totally right. Without giving anything away it is entertaining, a bit immature, extremely predictable but yet very watchable. Both of my girls loved it and are wanting to watch it again where as my husband and I could easily pass but if it was on again I would watch it. My girls laughed on more than one occasion where as I smiled and my youngest said a few times 'I love Woody', when I asked her why she said 'I just love how cheeky he is'. I did like how Woody interacted with the audience and asked questions or made comments and broke that third wall. He did make a comment about a sequel so we will be keeping our eyes out.

The plot is like most 'forest animal meets human family' they hate each other then they eventually love each other but the process was at least watchable. Although Woody is animated it was nicely done with the interaction between them and you didn't feel like they were deer's stuck in a head light. I did like the musical festival where fire flies came out of the treasure chest it made the whole movie seem kind of magical. It had a nice feel to the whole movie. Woody is very vivid and life like and the detail is fantastic. The picture quality is bright and sharp and the acting is what it is. Although, I don't understand why every kid movie they have to have extremely silly bad guys who are very 'hill-billy' and just do absolutely stupid things but I guess it works for the kids. It is definitely a movie aimed at the children. It would of been nice to have some other animals in the forest join in for a while instead of having this beautiful location bland except for Woody.

My favourite part would be after the movie has finished and the credits had finished rolling they put on a cartoon from a very long time ago called 'Niagara Fool' and I have to admit I laughed a few times. The girls could not get over how different our cartoons were to today's versions. It felt like a breath of fresh air watching the old Woody Woodpecker. Which resulted in questions about tv in the 'olden days'. It would of been cool if they had put on a couple of episodes because it left me wanting more. The cartoons were so witty even though not a lot is said.

A great way to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon.

Product image for Romantic RoadMeet Rupert and Jan Grey, a free-spirited and somewhat eccentric upper-class English couple in their sixties, married for 35 years and on the verge of retirement.

Not content to live out their autumn years by the fire, this intrepid couple ignore everyone's advice and embark on a remarkable journey - to drive Rupert's father's 1936 Rolls Royce across India, a journey of some 5000 miles, on their way to a human rights festival in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
