Firstly I can't wait to say... I absolutely love this game! I am a huge board and card games fan and own all sorts from complex strategy games to kids games, to party games that I can play when there are more than 6 or so in the group - and this game falls into the latter category.

It can be hard to find a good party game - my criteria being that it has to be super-simple to explain, and fun to play over and over, and 'Apples to Apples' definitely meets this criteria. I've mostly played with adults, but have included teens in the mix, as it's pretty family friendly and easy. My version comes in a wooden box, so it's pretty sturdy and there are so many cards that it never loses it's playability. In fact I've played it so many times, that the same cards have come up several times ... and yet it does not affect the game at all, as every time is still different.

Quite simply, it works by one person (the judge) playing a card and then everyone else as quickly as possible has to throw one of their cards face down to be judged. I say quickly because if you are not quick enough, you miss out on your card being judged. So there is certainly no waiting around while people try and make up their minds!

Then comes the hilarity as people try and make sure the judge picks their card... or try to bluff about which their card actually is. So yes pretty simple to learn, simple to play - and a fun way to fill in the night when there are a number of people. I would recommend this game for those who enjoy light board games where it's about having fun, interacting socially, but are not too worried about who actually wins in the end.
