Ice Station product reviews

At a remote ice station in Antarctica, a team of US scientists has made an amazing discovery. They have found something buried deep beneath the coastal ice shelf. Something trapped inside a 100-million-year-old layer of ice. Something made of metal.

It is the discovery of a lifetime. A discovery of immeasurable value. A discovery men would kill for...

Led my the enigmatic Lieutenant Shane Schofield, a team of crack United States Marines is rushed to the station to secure this discovery for their country. They are a tight unit. Tough and fearless. They would follow their leader into hell. They just did...

In a land without boundaries, the only law is survival.

This book is most definitely in a league of it's own. The book that 'made' Matthew Reilly, after the initial failure of CONTEST, this book, understandably, made Matthew Reilly a household name.
This book introduces for the first time Lieutenant Shane "Scarecrow" Schofield. This man becoming the "star" of Matthew Reilly's SCARECROW series (See AREA 7 and SCARECROW) is truly legendary.
This book is defintely value for money, as it is action packed, the first in a marvelous series, addictive, hard to ignore and an excellent read.
The realism of this book is questionable. From magnetic grappling hooks, to nitrogen grenades (Grenades which spray super cooled liquid nitrogen everywhere... I know what I want for christmas...), to invisible planes put the Level of Realism in serious jeapordy, bringing it perilously close to a six.
This book is definitely in my 'To be re-read" pile, with an unpredictable story line, and unforgettable plot twists, with more layers than my daily cake, I lived off adrenaline while reading this book, even to the point where I found myself sympathertically holding my breath.
I think the Lose Track of Time factor is clearly spoken for, considering it is almost four in the morning now, and I was planning to hit the sack by ten... last night. Matthew Reilly seems to have this effect.
Overall an excellent read, and I have a strong feeling that I will read this book over and over again until I've warn the pages to shreds, the book's fallen to pieces, and Macmillan have stopped printing it. Highly Reccomended.
