Proud to promote NZ productsI'm a dingle-dangle scarecrow with a flippy-floppy hat. I can shake my hands like this and shake my feet like that!

Shake a leg and sing along with The Topp Twins!

The Dingle-Dangle Scarecrow is a firm favourite with all of the older, preschool aged children at the daycare centre which I work at, it is often requested during mat times and I regularly hear the CD playing in the background as I walk through these rooms to go on a break. When I saw that this awesome book up for review in a board book I jumped at the chance to request it, especially as I am currently on the lookout for more infant and toddler friendly books for the children whom I work with who are very into books, music and dancing at the moment.

Some of the older children that I work with in the Nursery who are around 16 to 18 months old were excited to see a new book set up on the shelf and were quick to bring it over to me to read to them, they loved the bright colourful pictures of the funny, friendly scarecrow and most of all of the animals that featured on each of the pages, there were sheep, dogs and birds to name a few and we enjoyed making the animal noises and counting each one. After several days of having the book out on the shelf for the children to enjoy I decided to take the story a step further and share with them the CD that goes along with the story. To say they loved it is an understatement they were so excited! Over the past couple of weeks we have been slowly learning the actions to the song which has been a lot of fun watching as the children learn these and shake their hands and feet around just like the scarecrow does and pretend to sleep, this story always lights up their faces and they can't get enough of it. They are always happy to hear the CD turn on and will get up and dance on their own!

Sung by The Topp Twins the music and singing on the CD is full of life and such fun to listen to, I can happily listen to this over and over without any problems, unlike some other children's stories. The tune is great and the pictures really reflect the music used. The CD actually features 2 different tracks the first one in which The Topp Twins sing along with the words in the book, and the second which is just background music in tune with the book, I prefer the first track as it means I don't have to hear my own voice!

Miss 4 is a fan of this book and has had a lot of fun singing along with it, often requesting to listen to the song in the car or as part of her bedtime story, her favourite part she tells me is doing the funny actions and pretending to be a scarecrow. As far as children's books go this one is right up there, I definitely recommend buying it, it would make a great gift or a perfect book at any Early Childhood setting.
