Bacon - it is one of those foods / flavours that it is rare to find someone who does not like it. We are a family of 5 and only one member of our family does not enjoy the wonderful world of bacon. I find it a little weird but each to their own. So this bacon sauce comes in a teeny tiny little bottle but with a big kick as name to make up for it! :) Do not be fooled or put off by the bottle size....a little goes a long way and you still get your money's worth of uses out of this.

The bottle is about equivalent in size to an essential oils bottle, and much like the essential oils you only use a few drops. It is the kind of sauce that if you had a few drops to mayo or tomato sauce you can create something magical. It is one of those foods that is only limited by your imagination. We added it to both mayo and tomato sauce for wraps for lunches. Best move ever!

Open the little bottle and you are met with a huge hit of smokey bacon aroma. Not to overly strong but surprisingly powerful for such a little bottle lol. It says it is a mild hot sauce which is good because I think any hotter and it probably would not really be that nice. Our youngest never tried it (she's the non bacon lover), but every one else loved it!

It is versatile too. We added some to potato bake and got a wonderful smokey flavour through the potatoes. So good! As mentioned we mixed it with mayo etc to make wraps. We are huge wrap lovers and it was so good in wraps. The flavour manages to go right through everything so is there till the last bite. I haven't had a chance to add to soup yet but I am going to as I'm sure in soup it will be amazing.

We love this little sauce. We will definitely buy it. And as I said it may be a small bottle but it is definitely worth every cent and it really goes a long way.

I am always a fan of bacon so when this bacon hot sauce came up for review I just had to request it. I am not a huge fan of things that are really spicy so was pleased to read that it is a mild hot sauce. Despite this, I was still a little worried about just how spicy it would be and whether I would be able to eat it.

Once I received the bottle in my parcel I realised just how small the bottle was. To be honest, when requesting it I didn't read anything into the size of the bottle and had just assumed that it would be similar to a standard bottle of sauce/marinade. So I was quite surprised at just how small which led me to wonder just how good value for money it would be. I did then decide that with being a hot sauce I wouldn't need so much so it should stretch over a few different meals.

Returning home late from a late zumba class having not had tea before hand I decided to throw some oven fries and chicken tenders in the oven. I decided that this would be a perfect meal to try the bacon hot sauce by mixing it through some mayo and using it to dip my chips and chicken in. I am a big fan of garlic aioli and always use this for this purpose, so thought that by mixing it through mayo it would both tone down the sauce a little bit and provide me with a creamy type sauce that I enjoy dipping my fingers in.

When I opened the little bottle I was met with the smokey smell of bacon. To be honest I'm not a huge fan of the heavy smokey flavour that many bacon flavoured items seem to take on. I prefer plain bacon, cooked enough for it to not be crispy so the smokey flavour is definitely a "fake" bacon flavour to me. I put a little bit of sauce on my finger and tried it, even if reluctant to try it like this! I was quite surprised. There was quite a strong smokey flavour and while there was a kick from the spice, it wasn't too much that I couldn't handle it. I certainly didn't reach for a big glass of water to guzzle! I put some mayo into a little ramekin dish and dropped a few drops of the bacon sauce in. I had no idea how much I would need so decided just to add a few drops at a time so that I didn't make it too strong. It took a lot more sauce than I thought to get the flavour nice but once I had got it right it was very pleasant. I will certainly use the sauce in this manner again as I quite liked it and it made a nice change from my usual garlic aioli. The flavour matched with both the oven fries and chicken tenders perfectly, and I have enough left over to add into my chicken and salad bun for lunch tomorrow. I look forward to finding other ways to use this sauce too and will be making sure to read other reviews to find some new ideas.

Bacon is one of those wonderous foods that you can't imagine living without! And honestly, why would anyone even want to try living without it. My husband is a massive bacon fan and we pretty much eat bacon as least 3-4 times a week, sometimes more. I was lucky enough to get one of these bottles in my review parcel and I couldn't wait to start trying it with different options.

To be honest I wasn't entirely sure what to expect from this hot sauce but when it arrived I was a little surprised to see how teeny tiny the bottle really was. It's only 0.75 oz which is roughly 22mls. It was a pretty cute bottle but I had no idea how long it'd actually last.

We decided to first try this on some fish we were cooking for dinner - we rubbed flour all over the fish and then added a small amount of Ass Kickin' Bacon Hot Sauce to each piece of fish with some salt and pepper. The fish was then pan fried in butter. This is a normal baconless meal for us so I thought it would be the perfect one to try the bacon flavoured sauce on. On first taste there was definitely a strong bacon flavour but not too overpowering, especially with the fish taste. The hot sauce was very mild which is good because I'm not really a fan of "burn your mouth" sauce which stops you from tasting anything else.

Next we tried just a small dab of sauce in a ham and cheese wrap and I think this was my favourite way to use this sauce - it was the perfect addition to the wrap and gave it just that bit of extra flavour that it needed to make it stand out and taste devine. To me it tasted quite salty but then so does bacon so it just added to the bacon flavour I guess. My husband quite enjoyed the flavour and mentioned that it tasted like a beginners hot sauce to him, not to strong at all. We opted out of giving the kids a taste, they haven't quite develped a love of anything with too strong a flavour yet.

Overall, at the price of $4 for such a small container I can't honestly say that I will purchase this in the future but I do think this is more of a novelty also, not something someone would buy continually. For the same price as this little bottle I could go out and buy a packet of bacon to cook and eat, but that bacon would only last for one meal where as this tiny little bottle could easily be added into 5-6 meals depending on how much you added to each one so it's not a bad option to buy.

Americans have an odd sense of what "bacon" tastes like I think, because it's always so smokey it may as well be burnt... so I was reluctant to try this at first because I prefer my bacon cooked to a point that still allows it to be edible without shattering into tiny glass-like shards when I bite down, or so drowned in smoke that you can't taste the meat any more. But... new frontiers in food is always a good thing for me, so I popped the top and prepared to try it.

A tiny dab on my finger to start with, so I could judge the heat of the sauce without food adjusting it in any way, and I found it quite a tidy flavour profile. Yes, very smokey, light hints of bacon underneath, with chilli heat gently woven throughout. One thing I did notice though was how runny it was, so I decanted my desired portion into a kids medicine teaspoon, and used that to drizzle it on my scrambled eggs - an easy way to ensure I didn't accidentally empty the bottle in one sitting.

This was really nice on eggs - it lent a wonderful fragrance and flavour to the eggs, with a touch of spice heat, and the eggs in turn toned down the smokiness to the point I could really enjoy it. I thought it may also go well with tuna in a wrap, or with sushi too, so decided to try those as well.

To cut it short, I was wrong about the sushi - totally NOT the right flavour mix for me but may prove suitable for someone else's palate - but I hit the nail on the head with the chicken wrap. I used some leftover mashed potato mixed with a small amount of garlic aioli to soften it into a spread, a generous portion of roast chicken, some sliced maasdam cheese, and fresh home-grown tomatoes and spring onions, finally topped with a fairly generous (2-3 teaspoons) of this sauce. WOW... that was so good I had to make another batch later in the day for dinner!

Overall, while the price may be a little higher than ideal, you must keep in mind this is a low-volume import from the US, and affordability comes from high-volume sales... so give it time and this may become a little cheaper as sales pick up. I certainly hope so, because this is one tasty sauce!

I can honestly say, I don't think I ever met someone who doesn't like or LOVE bacon; there's something about the saltiness, the greasiness and the versatility of the meat that attracts so many people to enjoy it for breakfast, lunch and dinner! This Ass Kickin Hot Sauce arrived in the cutest wee bottle (about 20mls I reckon) that it really had me scratching my head. I thought, how can I possibly have enough sauce for a meal? But I decided the best course of action was to open the bottle and have a 'quick dip your finger in the sauce taste test' and I decided it was rather on the Hot side of Mild (Mild on the bottle), that it should be easy enough to add small portions to a few meals. While the taste was hotter than I liked, the sauce did have a very smoky bacon taste which I thought was amazing given that in my experience most Hot Sauces overtake all other flavours in the sauce.

I decided that I would lightly spread the sauce on our toasted cheese and onion sandwiches for lunch and I must say my husband and I really enjoyed them, it made the sandwiches taste really great; smoked bacon, onion and cheese? Yum!

The next night we had chicken wrap tacos that our family enjoy on a quick and easy tea night. I use the Mexican kits you can buy from the supermarket, add crispy crumb seasoning to chicken breast then fry and wrap with our favourite green salad and cheese. Normally I add a sweet chilli sauce, but I decided to add the Bacon sauce instead, but in this case I think I got to heavy handed and the tacos where a bit on the hot side so I decided to add more fresh cucumber and tomato to the filling and that seemed to do the trick toning it down.

So for such a small bottle I have used maybe two thirds of it on two meals, my husband has ear-marked the rest of the sauce for toasted sandwiches for his lunch over the next few days. I would recommend this sauce and I would buy again if only for the great tasting toasted sammys!

I have tried this product in three consecutive meals so far, and really like it. It is small enough to fit in the outside pocket of a picnic bag ready for barbecue cooking, but more than holds its own when compared with much larger bottles of hot sauce. Bacon is a flavour that lends itself well to hot summer vegetable dishes made from ingredients such as capsicum, tomato, corn or courgettes: on their own, these vegetables may lack piquancy, but with the addition of a few drops of this sauce (which contains cayenne pepper as well as bacon flavouring) they really come to life.

The first dish I tried it with was barbecued courgettes. These were halved lengthwise, blanched in boiling water for a couple of minutes to soften, and then coated with a mixture of fresh garlic and a little of the bacon flavoured sauce. They were then grilled until the surface was crispy and fragrant. They were so good I would have been quite happy to eat them on their own and forget about the sausages and fancy bread rolls that were meant to accompany them.

The following night I made a ratatouille with aubergines, courgettes, garlic, tomatoes, capsicum and onions. I had found the sauce milder than expected so I added a full teaspoon to the mixture. I first encountered ratatouille when I was living in Majorca, and this was as good as any I have tasted. I did not add salt as I thought the bacon flavour would be enough, but everyone else assured me that it did need a dash of salt as well. But everyone to their own taste!

Finally, for breakfast, I decided to make corn fritters. I had been given two cobs which were slightly past their best; the only thing you can do with cobs like these is to stew them gently to soften them and then make them into fritters or add them to something like bacon and egg pie. Fritters are quick and easy so that is where they ended up. I used a teaspoon of the sauce to an eight fritter mix which was about right. It added that essential zing without entirely masking the corn flavour or causing any coughing fits.

So - don't be put off by the name or the small size which might lead the buyer to think the product is going to be unbearably hot. It is certainly hot, but not overwhelming. The decider is the taste test (a drop on the end of the tongue) and when I did this I did not need to rush for the remedy (cold yoghurt!) so that puts it well and truly into the mild- to medium-hot rather than the burning-hot range. A good introduction for those new to Mexican food!
