I find it really hard to find nice easy to understand books for younger children and this ticks all my boxes. I was excited to be able to review this board book and thought it was something that my almost 4 year old daughter and my 1 year old son would really enjoy. The first thing I noticed was the simplicity of the books in regards to the front page which carries on right throughout the book. The colours used in the book are simple, the pictures are not cluttered and crammed in and there is just the right amount of words. To me this makes a book really eye catching and appealing to a younger audience.
I really enjoyed that this book went through different options about what the Ollie love's about their dad. This led to a big discussion about what my daughter enjoyed doing with her Dad. I think this book was really relatable to my daughters age group in the fact some of the items that Ollie enjoyed were similar to what she enjoyed doing with her Dad. I found the size of the book to be a perfect size for my younger daughter to easily hold onto and flick through the pages. Because it is a board book it is also nice and sturdy so my younger son could look at the pictures and be quite rough with it, without having pages rip (like a normal paper book would).
In my opinion I think this is a simple book, that has a relatable story line and I think its a book that has good rereadability as the story line can remind children perhaps about other things they may enjoy. Price wise, I think $12.00 is a reasonable asking price for a board book for a child. I would definitely pay this price if I was purchasing for myself or my children and it would be a book I would buy for a present to give.
