I Will Love You Anyway product reviews

'I don't do 'sit'
I don't do 'stay!'
But I will love you anyway.'

From the celebrated creators of Kipper, Wibbly Pig, and Zoe and Beans comes a picture book to treasure. Dog is very badly behaved - he destroys everything, chases cars and won't stop running away! But when he finds himself lost and alone there is one person he can count on.

I had previously read Wibbly Pig to my daughters when they were toddlers and loved the pictures and simple sentence structures so I was looking forward to reviewing 'I will love you anyway', a book by the same author. The book was initially left on the side and when I went to get it I noticed my 8 year old daughter had grabbed it and was sitting on the sofa engrossed. She read it relatively quickly and said it was a 'lovely cute book' which she really enjoyed reading.

I sat down with my 6 year old daughter to read it and we both liked the bright red cover with the title and authors and a dog with big eyes and paw warmers (it looked like a fun book!) The book is about a dog that is naughty and keeps trying to run away. The dog steals things, keeps escaping, doesn't obey anyone and rolls in poo - this bit had my daughter in fits of laughter and I had to reread the paragraph about six times before we could move on with the story! The book has a happy ending with the dog being rescued after being alone outside at night.

This is a heartwarming story which features short, rhyming paragraphs and uses repetition effectively so is great for emerging readers. The size and position of the text differ throughout the book to highlight different actions and emotions and the pictures really bring the story to life. My only gripe would be that some of the words are spread out over the two pages so can be difficult to read unless the book is flattened out..

My 6 year old is now happy to read this by herself and my 8 year old has reread it so definitely one to add to your kids bookshelf!
