Product reviews...
I was keen to review this product as I have 3 young children who love their books. I also love books by the Scholastic company. I love the cover of the I Spy Mum book, I found it very effective and made me want to read the book. The book is about a little boy who is searching for his mother. He spies all sorts of mums in his quest to find his mum. The book rhymes the whole way through, making it a fun read for all.
The illustrations through out the book are fun and the children love looking at the pictures to try guess which mum is which. The pictures and rhyming were good to keep the children engaged and interacting with the story. The book is full of different mums, from baking mum's to singing mum's. I love that it shows there are so many different kinds of mum's but there is nothing like your own mum.
I would definitely recommend added this book to your book collection. I personally love reading special mum books with my children. The book retails at around $21 which I think is a good price for a good book for the children. I think this book is best suited for age's 1 to 5. I found this book enjoyable to read to my children and am quite happy to read it to them daily. It's not too long which is good for young attention spans. The only let down with this book is it has a soft cover, I much prefer to purchase hard cover books for my children as they tend to last much longer but it may be available to purchase in hard cover.
Even before my son was born I started to gather a book collection for him with all the books i'd enjoyed as a chile. I think reading to your kids is so special and even though he is still really young I think I Spy Mum! is going to be a favourite.
The story: It's simple but that's good for small minds and there's lots of lovely rhymes which definitely kept my little one's attention. I also really like how it reinforced that there's lot's of different Mums who are all different but there's nothing like your own. The illustrations: really beautiful. They're expressive, they're colourful and have lots of different things in them that you can point out to your child. Be careful of the pages if you're reading this to a baby, sometimes the book is so good that the pages need to be taste tested or in the excitement of turning the pages things can be ripped.
I would definitely recommend adding this one into your little one's bedtime routine. There's nothing like having a lovely warm bath and then reading about special Mum's. So stock up your child's book collection with I Spy Mum! and enjoy some quality time together.
