Product reviews...
This was a strange one... I have never come across a bread that is folded in this manner, and to be blunt I was severely worried I would burn the top of the folded bit... I need not have worried. But using a full-sized oven with the fan on, I was able to cook it according to directions and come out with an astounding meal accompaniment.
Deciding to do something a little different, while this was baking away happily, I prepared some of the cheese sauce I use for 'au gratin' baked veges, and just left it in the pot on a really low heat - enough to keep it warm and fluid, I then tore the bread into chunks and dipped them in the sauce, fondue-style. This was a great way to enjoy this bread, and would be quite fun at a social gathering.
I found that most of the garlic butter pooled in the fold, meaning the majority of the bread was a little under-quota... mind you, to me, when it comes to garlic bread of any description if the entire loaf isn't t dripping, it's under-allocated.
Overall, this came a close second to the other bread I tried, but it lives up to every promise it makes. You pay for what you get, and in thins case you can be reassured you get everything you pay for... if not more.
Well, I think that this bread is awesome, it was better than any of the garlic breads that are sold at places like pizza parlors, it was far more delicious. In the case of this food product, I actually tried something, and added it as part of my family's dinner, which you see in the photo. The bread went very well with the dinner, but it also went nice n it's own, sort of. I split the bread in half initially, The first half went with dinner, but the second half I covered with cheese and cooked to eat without being part of a meal.
The bread was easy to cook, it only needed about 10 minutes instead of 12, which is how long the label said to cook it for. The fold was quite spongy, but the crust was quite crispy, it really made a nice combo. The garlic was very noticeable, unlike some garlic breads I've had, this one actually had a strong garlic flavour. Alongside the garlic was some rosemary and parsley, which made a nice addition to the garlic.
I tend to like leavened breads more than unleavened, so this one played right into that. Also I have always been a fan of garlic bread, meaning that this bread was something I jumped right onto when I saw them in the review stock. The price is good I think it is a great deal, and I think I may need to track down this bread, as both my mother and little brother both thought it was delicious, so now I also have peer pressure as an excuse. Overall, I think that this product is one that I would recommend to anyone, as it is a lovely addition to any meal.
I love a good ciabatta - in fact it would have to be one of my favourite speciality breads. Garlic is high on my list of favourite foods too, so when I was given the chance to review this artisan ciabatta garlic bread, I jumped at the chance.
I love that this bread has a long expiry date so I was able to keep it in the fridge for over a week (with almost 2 more weeks until expiry) so I could keep it on hand for the perfect meal. In this instance I served it with fresh home made pumpkin soup and it went beautifully. However I have to say that it would be just as delicious on it's own - I can see this being a perfect starter dish to serve to guests as dinner is being prepared.
The bread has plenty of garlic butter (and herbs) and is beautifully soft and chewy with a slightly crisp crust, just as a great ciabatta should be. I cooked it for the recommended 12 minutes and it was spot on - there is no getting this wrong.
I love this that has no additives and preservatives and is therefore healthy in a sense. Of course garlic bread is a treat but at least I'm not putting all sorts of nasties in my body. All 3 of us (my husband and I and my 6 year old) loved this bread and polished it off in one meal... but I have to say that it would probably easily serve at least 4 - we were just a bit greedy! I'd definitely look out for this and buy it for a special treat - yes it's not the cheapest bread but it's way more delicious than mass produced garlic bread.
At first glance this loaf looked amazing, it was a real natural Italian Ciabatta where every loaf does not look the same. You could see that there was plenty of butter as it was smothered over the top of it. The packaging is eye catching and the labelling of 'Hand-made' really jumps out as well at telling us that there is no preservatives or additives with all natural ingredients.
It sells itself as a garlic butter loaf, but on closer inspection it also has parsley and rosemary in it as well. This is a selling point for me it makes it different from other garlic breads, it is a point of difference that I think they should incorporate in their title not the smaller print.
This is stored in the fridge which gives it a decent expiry date. With only 12 minutes in the oven it is ready to eat. It put a fresh bread and garlic smell throughout the house. Butter melted nicely and soaked the bread in extra flavour.
This was a very nice tasting flavoured bread that the family was happy to go back for more and more. It did not need to be served with anything - on it's own was awesome. The one thing that made it difficult to eat is the fold in the bread as once it is soggy with yummy butter the bread falls apart in your hand once you take a slice.
I will be looking out for more of this bread as it will be great to have at home and also take to friends.
Garlic, garlic, garlic! In any form, our family loves it. We like a good strong taste of garlic too, weak doesn't cut it for us. If a recipe says one clove of garlic, we tend to put in three or four. It is always great to try new products to see if they stand up to our expectations for garlic flavour.
At a recent expo in Hamilton, I had the pleasure of tasting a little wedge of the Kapiti Cibatta Fold (filled with fresh garlic butter). It was so good and I was actually going to go back to the stand to buy some. Unfortunately, I made my decision too late as it was all sold out. That showed how good this product was. Next time I will not muck around!
When I was given the opportunity to review the Cibatta Fold through KIWIreviews, I jumped at the chance. It was my opportunity to see if I could cook it as well as they do at the expo - knowing that things often don't taste as good when you get home!! This is one of those products that all you have to do is follow the simple instructions of preheating the oven to 180 degrees, popping the bread in the oven for 12 minutes and that is it! The result was an extremely tasty garlic bread, just as good as the piece I tasted at the expo. It smelt and tasted like I would expect from a restaurant version. In fact, this surpassed many of the garlic breads I have found on menus at restaurants.
I see from their website that I can buy the bread at New World in Te Rapa and Hillcrest. I will remember this for special meals in our house. It is nice to know that I can find restaurant quality food in the supermarket to serve in my home.
The bread has a slightly crispy outer and the inside is soft and spongy. I think that the price is reasonable for such a great product. I love the fact that there are no preservatives or additives. The ingredients are all recognisable and as a result, it is something that, given the correct quantities and process, I could make at home. This is a sign of a product which is actually food - fantastic in my book! In rating this product, I have to choose a score based on how "Healthy" it is. I am giving it a score of 10 because of the fact that it doesn't have rubbish in it (additives etc) and I am sure that everyone knows that garlic bread is a treat rather than something that is a healthy option. I wouldn't want to score lower as I think it is a top notch product.
This Cibatta Fold most defiantly did stand up to my expectations and exceeded them too. I will be buying it again.
Tonight I was looking to have a nice home-cooked meal. It had been a week of lazy cooking, and after my husband looked longingly at a schnitzel meal on TV I knew I had to take action. I picked up potatoes and sizzle steak at the supermarket. I made up a bowl of mashed potatoes, coated the sizzle steak in coat n crumb, and added vegetables to the plate as well!
But to be fair, it was a poorly executed meal. The potatoes were lumpy, the steak was cold and the vegetables too. The only thing this meal had going for it, was the beautifully warm and delicious smelling bread from Kapiti Artisan Bakehouse. It was the smell of it warming in the oven that brought my entire family into the kitchen. "What is that smell mum?" "Is that garlic bread? Is it for dinner?"
When it came out of the oven, it looked beautifully golden. I put a bread cutting knife through it, and it was easy to cut. Crunchy on the outside and beautifully soft inside. I added a big piece of the bread to everyone's plate. I left two pieces on the oven tray hoping they would be forgotten.
The kids sat and ate their meals. Miss 8 cleaned her whole plate except for her beans. She likes garlic bread, but isn't always a big ciabatta eater, and she is the most likely to leave the outer crust of bread behind. She completely demolished the whole piece of bread, leaving only a couple of crumbs behind! Miss 3 has been sick all week, so I wasn't expecting much. She ate about a teaspoon full of potatoes and her entire piece of bread.
My husband was completely sold on the bread. He said it was delicious, and tasted a little like the herb stuffing you get in chickens - one of his favourite things about a chicken roast. He devoured the bread first, even though he had been looking forward to the whole thing. I thought the bread was genius. All the flavour is folded into the ciabatta, and it tastes brilliant. I also managed to find these in New World, which made me so happy because it means I know where to get our next fix.
