As a mother this movie was terrifying. As someone wanting to buy a new house this movie is terrifying. As a movie goer this movie was slow, tedious and drawn out. You spend a lot of the movie waiting for something to happen. When it does its okay but nothing spectacular.
For some reason we saw the movie in 3D which I do not understand. Nothing amazing happened. There was nothing 3D as far as I could recall. It did not add anything to the movie so to be honest if you hate wearing those annoying glasses see it in normal 2D as you will not be missing out on anything thrilling.
It is based on the original Poltergeist and although the story differs some what the premise is still the same, the tv is still used as a major plot. Major difference is their are three children and the boy is extremely scared of everything and so naturally he becomes the hero. The youngest girl is six and the ghost want her because she is of pure mind and also has the ability to speak to the dead. They are not living on top of an indian burial plot but the towns old cemetary but the gist is all basically the same.
I think this one effected me as mum to two young girls you always thing 'what would you do'. Also a heavy plot in this movie was the husband had just been made redundant so that hit a little close to home as my husband has also just gone through this. I am glad I won tickets to it as would not pay money to see it. It was good but I think I am just a tad emotional at the moment and hit a little too many nerves. My husbands feedback was 'it was dumb'.
