Ricky Ricotta's Mighty Robot vs the Jurassic Jackrabbits from Jupiter product reviews

Today is Ricky Ricotta's birthday and it is going to be the BEST day ever. As a special treat, Ricky's family is going to the museum to see dinosaurs. But when they get there, an evil space-bunny named General Jackrabbit is creating Jurassic Jackrabbits that will help him take over Earth.

Can Ricky and his Mighty Robot beat the big, bad bunnies? Or will this end up being the WORST birthday ever?

My eldest daughter and I have been reading along to the Ricky Ricotta's Mighty Robot series for a few books now. We like Dav Pilkey very much and read just about everything he puts out. This book though went through an extra test and it was a surprising one.

The first reading of this book, wasn't to my eldest. Instead I sat my almost 3 year old down and we read the book together. She can sit through a picture book no problem, but this was a big challenge. She nailed it. She sat still, and listened intently. The illustrations were bright and colourful enough for her to be captured. She pointed to the words as I traced them and she enjoyed looking at the funny creatures.

I showed her the flip-o-rama pages, and she got very excited and wanted to try. However, I was a mean mum and said no. I told her that the flipping of the page was a mum job because it is too easy to rip the page. I have seen her accidentally tear pages when she is just reading, so it didn't seem like a smart thing to encourage just yet. Thankfully she bowed to my superior knowledge of paper and tearing.

The second reading was to the eldest. She enjoyed the story as well, but didn't feel the need to look at the book too often. So the illustrations were lost on her, apart from looking at the missing skulls and the genetically modified eggs. I thought that this book was well timed for Easter. As the eggs come out of the machine, they look exactly like Easter eggs, and it has a crazy Easter Bunny gone bad sort of feel. Both girls commented on the "chocolate" eggs.

Each read through only took about 20 minutes. I feel really encouraged that I could share this book with my youngest. It opens a whole new library of books for her and I won't be as hesitant to read other kid's novels to her now. This makes the book all the more re-readable too because I will have double the demand for it.

Nothing beats a headband for keeping your hair in style and out of your eyes. No wonder they are the current fashion accessory of choice, seen on celebrities, fashion models, and regular girls everywhere. But with all the stylish options out there -- classic bows, glimmering bands, sporty elastics -- finding the perfect headband can get pretty hairy.
