P.S I Love You product reviews

Holly Kennedy is beautiful, smart and married to the love of her life - a passionate, funny, and impetuous Irishman named Gerry. So when Gerry's life is taken by an illness, it takes the life out of Holly. The only one who can help her is the person who is no longer there. Nobody knows Holly better than Gerry. So it's a good thing he planned ahead. Before he died, Gerry wrote Holly a series of letters that will guide her, not only through her grief, but in rediscovering herself. The first message arrives on Holly's 30th birthday in the form of a cake, and to her utter shock, a tape recording from Gerry, who proceeds to tell her to get out and "celebrate herself". In the weeks and months that follow, more letters from Gerry are delivered in surprising ways, each sending her on a new adventure and each signing off in the same way; P.S. I Love You.

A friend recommended that I watch this movie, in her words "it is a great chick flick" and since that is not normally what makes me want to watch a movie I'm rather surprised that I followed through and watched this one.

I liked the idea of someone loving you so much that they will do anything to ease the pain of their passing. The movie starts out with him still alive but you discover as the movie goes on how they meet and what happened, how he died and arranged to have the letters delivered to her, that was a bit of a twist in the movie that I never expected.

Hilary Swank did a fabulous job of playing the bereaved widow, she was totally believable. I loved watching how the letters reminded her of some part of their live together and realising that things were done that way to help her move on.

I have this movie on DVD and would watch it again, I just need to be in the mood for a romantic comedy, it never brought me to tears but it was close a few times as the story is just so moving. I also enjoyed the music. For a movie I had never heard of I really enjoyed it and I'm so glad I risked buying a DVD on what a friend had told me, I normally have to see it first before I take that risk as I have been caught out before thinking a movie sounded good by the description and finding out that it was totally horrible.
