"Packed" is not really a word that I would use to describe this book. With just over 50 pages, this annual was filled with limericks, competitions, spot the differences, "draw me's", and "find me's". I was honestly disappointed with the lack of content. There were several interesting comics, but many of them had incomplete information, which made them confusing, and the layout was vague, which made it difficult to know how you were meant to read it.
Unless someone really had an interest in the exact events from the various periods spoken about in the book, I could see this coming across more boring than interesting. It is sad because some of the "articles" had me interested and piqued my curiosity, but either it didn't delve deep enough or it just became too confusing.
The activities would be great at keeping the little ones occupied for between half an hour to an hour. So its not too bad value for money. But I was truly disappointed in the quantity of information. If I were to choose a Horrible Histories book for the children to enjoy, I'd definitely stick to the ordinary paperback versions, rather than the annual. More gory facts means there is more chance of finding facts that I enjoy.
