Packed with rich berry flavour, this juicy number will certainly impress and is one of our favourites from the Thomas & Rose family. Best enjoyed chilled over ice with a berry or two.
Product reviews...
Thomas and Rose have been making an amazing range of ciders this summer. Was lucky enough to try the raspberry and blueberry one and it was divine! Light, fresh and fruity drink that is really easy to drink. It almost made me think of cordial and I can imagine it would be dangerous drinking this in summer as it is so easy to drink. Would be perfect chilled or seved over ice with a strawberry or two on the side yummy.
Upon taking of the cap a fresh fruity aroma took over. I gave it a bit of a sniff and imagined it would smell a bit like "beer" like normal ciders do but to my surprise it didn't. First mouthful was amazing with a lot of fizz in the first mouthful which is always a great sign of a cider. The taste was not overpowering. Fruity hints that were subtle and easy to drink as I said earlier.
The bottle images on the outside are nice and plain, not in your face which is what I like to see when selecting bottles. I not only go for taste, but impression on how it looks and also word of mouth from others. All in all a great summer drink that I won't get bored with as there is a whole new range to try
I really enjoyed the first Strawberry and Lime Thomas and Rose Cider that I tried - and I mean really enjoyed!!! I enjoyed it so much that I actually went out the the supermarket the day after to stock up so when I saw there was another flavour up for review I didn't hesitate and requested it straight away.
Like the Strawberry and Lime, this flavour came in a beautiful glass bottle with a label that is both classy and appealing. I loved the large size of these bottles which I've found are the perfect size for 2 people to share (or one person to have a nice big drink). The contents of the bottle are visible through a brown glass allowing you to see how much is in there but not really the actual colour of the mixture. Either way this flavour was calling to me to try just a little sip before I let it cool in the fridge.
It did not disappoint! From the slight fizz when opening to the sweet flavour of the raspberry and blueberries, this bottle contained everything that I hoped it would. I managed to restrain myself and put it in the fridge to cool down for an hour or so before trying it again and I'm so glad that I did. I didn't think it was possible but the coolness made it even more delicious. I can see myself drinking far too many of these on a nice hot summers day while relaxing in the sun.
To date, this has to be my favourite cider and definitely my favourite brand and I will for sure be heading to the supermarket this week to stock up and replenish my fridge.
I've become a fan of ciders thanks to my wife. The fact is that we don't drink beer and just want something light and fruity for a nice drink in the evening.
I really like blueberries, easily proven last year when we got given a few punnets of the fruit for free and I practically poured them into my mouth and ate them all a lot faster than my wife wanted. As with all the others in this range I really like the label, it's rather eye-catching without being too bold or over the top and the color suits the flavoring well.
Giving this a sip I found it to have a nice, strong raspberry flavor and a subtle hint of blueberry to the drink. Again, this is great with the portion size, nearly filling three wine glasses, so it is easy to see that this would do well for a party or even just last a couple of days for just one person. This was a tasty, fruity drink that was perfect for a late evening drink, on a hot night, just before bed but I wouldn't go crazy over it, in fact my wife finished off what I didn't before falling asleep. I would buy this again.
Cider is my absolute favourite summer drink. I like my cider smooth and sweet and this product definitely hit the spot. It's the second Thomas & Rose cider that I've tried so I knew I wouldn't be disappointed.
It's deliciously fruity with just the right amount of fizz making it incredibly easy to drink and I love that it's a screw top so I don't have to drink it all in one sitting (though it would be hard not to). It does have a very strong berry flavour which I really enjoyed since I do have a bit of a sweet tooth. Blueberries are usually quite tart and that didn't really come through at all which is a shame as that would've helped to cut through some of the sweetness.
I like the look of the packaging - it's clean and simple and very professional looking. I also like that they seem to be conscious of their product being an alcoholic beverage and encouraging people to drink wisely.
Berry ciders are usually a winner with me and this was no exception. I think this cider would also work fabulously as a jelly since it has such a strong flavour and it's something that I'll definitely have to try.
I have been lucky enough to try a few of the Thomas and Rose ciders and the raspberry and blueberry one has to be among my favourites. Once again Thomas and Rose show they know just how to blend flavours, it was the right mix of berry without being over powering. It's so light and fruity the one downside of it is that it goes down a little too easy!
I decided to get creative with my bottle and after tasting it by it's self I turned some of it into a jelly to go in a jelly cream sponge. I heated about 1/4 cup of cider in the microwave and added a couple of teaspoons of gelatine. Once it was dissolved I added a cold cup of cider stirred well and put it in the fridge to set. The results a very yummy adult only dessert. The jelly set well but next time I would add a little less cider so it set a bit firmer. I could see it being a very popular dessert at a dinner party. I plan to try the jelly again next time setting some fresh berries into it.
I love the Thomas and Rose range and will be buying it again for sure!
The Raspberry and Blueberry was the first flavour from Thomas and Rose that I have tried. The flavour was strong and very sweet. It was nice enough that I finished the bottle but next time I think I would go for another flavour. I could taste the blueberry with a hint of raspberry.
The bottles are a great size and make a perfect addition for a barbecue lunch over summer. The cider itself has a nice bubble to it & stayed fresh and did not go flat over the course of an afternoon. I like that the glass bottles are reusable or recyclable, whichever you choose.
I usually drink wine and find the cider quite similar but doesn't leave me bloated like many other alcoholic beverages do which is quite pleasant. Thomas and Rose is a great product for any budget and would make a fantastic addition to Christmas or any other occasion for that matter, hampers. The bottles are also quite stylish so they would look great.
I look forward to trying other flavours in the range, I love that they are readily available in Supermarkets as I rarely visit liquor stores. This makes it more likely for me to purchase again.
I just had a pleasure of finishing off this bottle of cider. It had actually been open in the fridge for over a week, and I was really surprised that when I opened it to do something with it earlier today, it was still very fizzy and in good shape. Not that I imagine I would store cider for a week normally, but I'm all for pushing a product a bit further than normal.
Last week, I sat down and had a small glassful of this cider. It was delicious. Nice berry flavour, nice little warmth from the cider. I didn't share it at all. Then I made myself a small cocktail with the Raspberry and Blueberry Cider and some white wine. This cider elevated the wine nicely. It essentially took a mediocre wine and made it something worth drinking. Beautiful berry flavour took over and everything about the wine I wasn't enjoying was hidden.
Today, I decided to give cider cake a go for our dessert. I used a vanilla cake mix, some frozen berries and about 3/4 cups of cider. The cake once baked, was served with custard. My husband enjoyed the flavour of dessert so much he had seconds. The cake didn't have an overpowering cider flavour, but it gave the berries a boost for sure. I then finished off the last of the cider, which is when I discovered the cider was as good as the day I opened it.
I did enjoy the flavour of this one. Generally a berry cider is going to be a winner with me. I wouldn't say that the flavour was as adventurous as the watermelon and cucumber one. But it's still a good solid cider and similar in price to other ciders in 500 ml bottles.
This was the second of the Thomas and Rose ciders I was given to review that I tried. I started with the strawberry and lime variety which is my favourite of the two with this being a very close second. Like the strawberry and lime variety I love the packaging of these bottles the label is very pretty and makes it appealing to drink.
I think cider has become more popular with the ladies since these new fruit varities have come out so it is nice to see packaging that would be appealing to women. Well when I opened this bottle I had had a busy day cleaning the house on a hot day so was really needing a nice cold drink so was glad to have this on hand to drink. I served it over ice which made it very refreshing indeed I would recommend serving with ice as it is so nice icy cold.
While I enjoyed the flavour I did find this particular blend quite sweet perhaps with blueberry and raspberry both being very sweet fruit it made the drink a little too sweet for my liking. I could still drink it and I think the ice helped but I wouldn't want to drink a lot at once as I am not big on drinking a lot of overly sweet stuff. being that I normally drink white wine it is a bit different drinking something so sweet in comparison.
I would drink it again, but am probably more likely to buy the Strawberry and Lime variety so can't wait to see them stocked at my local supermarket. One thing I would like to try with this is homemade iceblocks as the sweetness really lends itself to a nice ice block for a hot day.
