This is the first series to feature David Tennant as the tenth incarnation of the Doctor, an alien Time Lord who travels through time and space in his TARDIS, which appears to be a British police box on the outside.
He continues to travel with his companion Rose Tyler (Billie Piper), with whom he has grown increasingly attached. They also briefly travel with Rose's boyfriend Mickey Smith (Noel Clarke), and Camille Coduri reprises her role as Rose's mother Jackie. The series is connected by a loose story arc consisting of the recurring word "Torchwood".

Werewolves, killer Christmas trees, Cybermen, Daleks, Madame de Pompadour and more, oh the adventures you get to have with the Doctor.
We join Rose as she meets the new regeneration of the Doctor, as played by David Tennant, for the Christmas special, ahhhh the end of the world yet again. ;) Of course the doctor manages to save the Earth at the end of the day and he and Rose set off to have more adventures. We get to have Mickey join the team, have a bigger role for Jacqui and meet some old favourites such as K-9 and Sarah-Jane Smith. The acting is good, though I found Tennant took a little bit of time to really settle into the role, but everyone else does a good job and some great secondary characters.
My favourite episode would have to be "The Girl in the Fireplace", thought it was a rather fun episode, a few great lines "you can't keep the horse... I let you keep Mickey!!!" and it even gets a big nod in season 8 (but can't say more without spoilers). Although having the Cybermen and Daleks insulting each other has stood out as one of my favourite parts out of the entire series as a whole.
A sad ending immediately giving was to a bit of humour, this makes yet another good season in the series.
I have only recently discovered the Doctor as I had seen adverts for Doctor Who in the past and thought that it didn't sound appealing but after actually watching some I am rather enjoying it.
There are a lot that you have to just accept is possible and see how the Doctor manages to save the earth time after time with all the various threats. It would be great to be able to travel around and see what happened in the past and meet some of the more famous people and to be able to see the future, maybe not my direct future but to see how people would be living in a few hundred years. First time I had seen that the Doctor regenerates so it was good to see how Rose was asking questions and hear his explanation.
I can almost imagine how kids and fans alike would try and see if they could find the TARDIS every time they see a blue box. It is great to watch the different reactions to the TARDIS and you have to wonder how they fit all that inside one little box and yes I know the official explanation is that it is bigger on the inside than the outside.
I have seen a few of th.e other sci fi series and movies and this is fast becoming one of my favourite series and I can not wait to see the rest of the series
