As you might imagine, Simon and Dame Alison Holst have quite a number of slow cooker recipes to choose from! With four best-selling books on the subject already, you might wonder why they felt a fifth was needed?
The answer is simple, as the series name suggests, "Everyday Easy Slow Food Fast" has recipes chosen especially because they are very easy and very quick to prepare. The 'throw and go' recipes can be prepared in minutes, with everything added to the slow cooker at once so you can just let the machine 'do its thing' then come back to the kitchen some hours later and enjoy the delicious results.
Includes a selection of:
• heart-warming stews
• tender stews and casseroles
• pot roasts
• family favourites from meatloaf to macaroni cheese

I love the concept of slow cooked food and meals that you can prepare in the morning which take the hassle out of the evening rush. We've had our slow cooker for 10 years and it hasn't been used nearly as much as I'd like - the problem being finding good recipes that (considering the long cooking time) don't turn into mush and come out tasting bland and boring.
I've got a number of Alison Holst books and I was super excited to receive a copy of this book to review. The book contains a good mix of main meal recipes from soups, stews, roasts and even your classic mac n cheese.
The ingredients used are all easily accessible and the recipes are simple and easy to follow. I found some of the recipes to be a bit hit and miss, for example: meatballs in the slow cooker = mush, whereas the two soups that we tried and the roast came out really good and full of flavour.
I know that this recipe book is all about fast slow cooked food but I can't stand the use of cans/packets of soup in recipes. They're not something that I usually buy and there are other equally fast ways of adding flavour so I'm glad that there is a good mix of recipes to choose from in this book. I'll definitely be using this book a lot and making meal times easier without compromising on taste.
