P. Crumble has used a well known story title to catch the attention of the readers - the only difference being the spelling of Hair. It was this title that first grabbed my attention and thought that it would have the same moral as the original story - but no this one is different.

The story is about tortoise who is a rock star and believes that it is because of his hair-do 'wig' that makes the audience like him. He looses his wig on the bus and goes through many animals before it reaches his friend Hare. Hare being the caring friend that he is realises that Tortoise will be panicking about not having his wig for his up coming show and uses his ability to race the wig back to hair. But is it too late? - did the audience still like Tortoise show? - yes! The moral being that it doesn't matter how you look you can still impress others.

As a teacher and mother I think it is really important to continually remind our children that they are different and that looks do not matter. Having yet another book to reinforce these morals is just great.

Louis Shea has used great colours and illustrations to produce some cheerful characters in this story. I love how he has shown emotion on the faces of the animals. It is definitely a great talking point along with the story about how people are feeling.

I saw this book all ready to be done for review and jumped at the chance because of the title, to be honest I didn't read it correctly before applying to review as I thought it was the old favorite tortoise and the hare, but this one is spelt different tortoise and the HAIR. In saying that I wasnt disappointed in the book. The cover is just awesome and really catches the attention to start with.

Inside it isnt about a race like the old book I loved, but its about a tortoise that needs to perform but can't find his hair, he looks everywhere for it while the hair makes its own journey across town and many animals, his friend hare find it. Tortoise needs to go and do a concert and he feels down without his hair and then he gets courage and does it just in time for his friend hare to see it all and watch tortoise sing without his hair.

What I love about this book is there is a lot of rhyming words, and lots of talking points in the book, it has a great message which I love the most as being a parent and a under 5 teacher, no matter what you look like it is what is inside that counts. You can do anything and will be rewared in the end. What a fab book and a great little twist in it all.
