The Twelves Dogs of Christmas product reviews

It's Christmas time and all the dogs are getting up to mischief. This funny take on the classic rhyme will have you giggling at hilarious illustrations of twelve dogs digging, eleven puppies popping. Right through to a fat car in a fur tree.

I brought this book through the Scholastic Book club at my sons kindy at least 3-4year ago, the bright colours of the cover and the fact my daughter loves dogs really caught my attention. I got this as a bargain as it would of been for less than $5 as I generally don't spend more than that. My two kids love this book we read it a lot coming into Xmas time, they think it is really funny especially the page about dog poos (what kid doesn't enjoy a bit of toilet humour). As it reads along the lines of the 12 days of Christmas song the kids have easily picked up the tune and we all have fun singing the words to the book seeing who can sing it the loudest. I have even found my now 6yr old son reading it to his 4yr old sister as its that easy for kids to read along with.

I wouldn't myself buy this book for the retail price of $20 but being a scholastic book it is really well made and can handle a bit of rough housing from the kids, I would definitely purchase this as a present for Xmas time.

Having school aged children means getting books via Scholastic book club. I think it is my daughters favourite moment of the school term lol last year I purchased a copy of this book via another KIWIreviewers book-club so my daughter wouldn't know, and I also purchased 2 more copies of the book for my neice and nephew. It was obviously just before Xmas and I thought the book would be perfect Xmas gifts for them. Plus they were on special so it meant I could get all 3 copies for less than the rrp of one copy. I was very happy about this, as I personally think the rrp is much to high.

The twelve dogs of christmas is a funny take on the twelve days of Christmas. Same concept but each day is something to do with dogs. My daughter loved it. I thought it was quite funny. My neice and nephew loved it. My sister was annoyed that the dogs were called mutts and fleabags. She is wuite an animal lover and so this annoyed her. She also said she wasnt happy reading these words to her daughter as she didn't want her to view dogs this way, as they are animals to love and care for. I didn't get the words used in the book a second thought to be honest.

My daughter and I happily read the book on Xmas eve (we have an Xmas eve box which has new pjs, toothbrush, a gift, a movie, a book, popcorn etc) together. And then once we read it, we read it again...thiz time singing it!! It was great fun. She loved it and her brothers loved singing it with us.

Such an entertaining little book. The bright colour of the cover of this book took my eye and all the dogs around it. My kids love dogs and my parents have two dogs, that my children think are great, so when I saw this book in a lucky book club that my daughter brought home from school I just had to get it.

My son asked me to read this book to him for his bedtime story but once I started I couldn't read it any more I started singing the story. It was so funny, the pictures went with the words very well and my son had to find the cat on every page in the fur tree. My son is 4 and his favorite one was eleven puppies pooping the picture had us in laughs.

Such a great funny book for any child that likes dogs, singing and its easy to work out how to do it all, just think of the normal twelve days of christmas song. My son even picked up the words and would finish each page for me and a fat cat in a fur tree. I gave this book to two of my cousins babies last christmas and I can only hope they love it as much as we have. I wouldn't pay almost $20 for it though, I brought them when on a sale.
