For years now, I handed been trying to find a car kit that is easy to use, feature-packed, but most importantly will allow me to voice-dial properly. I have finally found such a kit.

While it has some serious swagger in the style department - a factor sure to appeal to some demographics - it is the ease of use and pack of features that sold me on this unit, and after some of the disappointing units I have tried, this one had a tough job ahead to impress me.

Setup is a breeze - turn it on, have your phone in Bluetooth pairing mode, and the rest is almost entirely automatic. You will need to approve a few prompts while it copies your contacts list, bit after a few minutes you will never really need to interact with it on a setup basis again... until you decide to pair another phone. Yes, you can pair two phones with it, and while it will dial out on the first phone it was paired with, it is quite happy to answer inbound calls from either device.

Voice dialing is amazingly easy. Activate voice dial by saying 'minikit' and it will prompt you with 'who'll do you want to call?' wait for the ping, then say the name of your desired contact, and it will put the call through. A couple of little usability warnings though; wait for the ping after the prompt. If you don't, the Neo will potentially dial the wrong person. Also, when you name your contact, you must use the full name as it is stored in your contacts list. It won't understand 'Fred' if your contacts list has 'Frederick' or 'Fred Jones'. Other than that, it's pretty simple.

To explore your extra settings and features, gently press the big black dial to activate the menu function. Turning the knob cycles through the options, and pressing the knob button in the menu acts as 'select' aka left mouse button. You can adjust volume, manually click through your phonebook, update the firmware, add voice tags, de/activate dual-device mode and configure "magic words".

Overall, this unit has really impressed me, and that isn't easy. If I had to pick on one thing that was less than superb, it would be the speaker. When I first started using it, the sound quality was crystal clear. However, within a couple of weeks a slight burr began to appear, and now the speaker has patches of being very crackly and rough. I am not sure what has caused it, I'm not overly pleased by it... but if that is the only down-side to thins unit, I will tolerate it because everything else about it more than compensates for a little hiss during a conversation.
