Beautiful looking cheese and it tastes just as good! Sweet nutty flavour with a creamy texture.

Nothing beats lying on the couch with crackers, hummus, dips and a range of cheeses. It is like paradise on earth cutting the cheese while watching a good movie. Could not wait to try Meyers Cheese as we usually stick to Camembert.
After using scissors to break open to the bag, found cutting the cheese was nice and easy and the knife just slid thru it. We cut up about a quarter of the cheese and placed it between us before hungrily consuming. I have to admit I was not a fan it has a sweet after taste which I really did not like so I stuck to the hummus where as my husband did not mind it.
The next night made a creamy pasta and used the cheese to top it off and it was delicious. It left a thick kind of coating on the pasta and really could eat like this again. It melted into the pasta beautifully and complemented the chicken, onions, courgettes and fresh herbs. The following day let the girls have some cheese and crackers and included the remaining Maasdam - whereas my baby ate a couple of slices my eldest had one bite and refused to have any more.
Definitely prefer to use this cheese with another item and not on its own. While not the biggest fan of it on its own would probably be nice in a salad or cooking with it.
This was the third cheese we were given to review. I had never even heard of a Maasdam, and I still can't really bend my tongue around the name. Our slice came with one or two rounded holes. I mentioned this when I picked it up and we made some "Swiss cheese" jibes. Although this isn't a Swiss cheese, it has that look which captured my daughter's imagination.
We had this on a cheese board last week, with rice crackers. My eldest daughter is very fussy. So I was surprised when she agreed to try any of the cheeses on the board. I was even more surprised when her trailing the cheeses was done very respectfully. On the Fenugreek it was yuck, but she swallowed what she had. Then she picked up the garlic and chives and again came yuck. With the Maasdam, she picked it up and declared it very nice and finished her piece.
As we turned around my youngest was spitting her piece of Maasdam onto the tablecloth. Toddlers are all class. My eldest looked horrified, at the waste of the good one! So, we had a winner for her. All our other guests said that it was nice enough, but it just didn't feel as special as the others in the range. However, for baking and cooking I found this cheese quite good. It melted nicer than the others which kinda blew up like little pillows instead. The Maasdam also produced a lot less oil when melted.
We had it on the top of macaroni cheese one night for my eldest (all having our own favourites). She loved hers so much, that there was NONE left for me to even try. Today I thought we would try peach and vanilla and Maasdam muffins for lunch. The flavour combo was okay, though the cheese did have a quite waxy flavour that didn't make it unpleasant, but wasn't super delicious either. My toddler liked it, but my eldest daughter didn't. However, she doesn't do peaches, which explains that one.
Overall, this was a nice cheese but it didn't have that same specialness that I felt with the Fenugreek. One kid loved it though, and for that reason I would consider getting it again. Thanks so much Meyer Cheese and KIWIreviews for selecting me for this review.
