Voodoo Vince product reviews

Voodoo Vince is an outrageous venture—from the streets of New Orleans to the depths of a Louisiana bayou—where players explore and fight as a tattered-but-tough voodoo doll on a quest to find the whereabouts of his keeper, Madam Charmaine.

In true voodoo style, Vince encounters and defeats quirky monsters and villains ... by kicking his own butt! By racing under a falling safe, jumping into a high-speed blender, or leaping under falling rubble, Vince is sure to defeat his enemies—all while managing to escape completely unscathed.

This game has got to be the craziest darn thing you ever did see on an Xbox! Unlike the greater majority of platform games, in this bizarre twilight world, Vince's most powerful weapon is himself! This 10 inch voodoo doll is on a mission to rescue Madam Charmaine, his creator, linked mind to mind with him by her magic.

Animated by zombie dust and voodoo mojo, Vince is not invulnerable, but he certainly has no reason to fear such environmental hazards at blenders, pit frogs, gators and more.

Good hint to help get you through the first levels... a good place to be, when you are short on Mojo, is in a constant spinning attack at the drop-off end of a conveyor belt dispensing Gingerdead Men. You'll get a whole heapin' helpin' of Mojo Beads, allowing you to regenerate your 'health meter'... but if you slip at the wrong moment you might find yourself having a sudden case of deja-vu as you reappear back a few steps for another go at it.

The graphics are very well done, as to be expected from a well-developed Xbox game, and the sounds are quite atmospheric giving the world a good feel. Excellent video and audio cues make figuring the game out a breeze, and the helpful scrolls and voice-overs from Madam Charmaine keep you on the plot path. Even Vince helps you out with advice thinly disguised as an inner monologue.

Well worth a play, this game had me laughing and hunting for secret bits. That's not normal for me and games. Well done, another great game.
