The second Captain Underpants adventure like you've never seen it before - in full colour!
George and Harold are usually responsible kids Whenever anything bad happens, George and Harold are usually responsible! And it looks like they're up to their old tricks again. First, they ruined the school's science fair with a series of silly pranks. Then, they accidentally created an army of evil, vicious talking toilets, intent on taking over the world. Who will stop the carnivorous commodes? This looks like a job for Captain Underpants!

Last time I reviewed a Captain Underpants book I reviewed it from my own perspective, an adult perspective if you will lol Like I said in that review I personally am not a fan of the Captain Underpants series of books, but I have read a couple or three of the series in my time lol ;) This time I thought I would review it from my childrens perspective (ages 7, 12 and 13). What is it that they love so much?
Well apparently its a story that covers all their favourite things; toilet humour, saving people, blowing up stuff, creating things and super-heros ~ what more could you ask for in a book for kids? Its easy to read with simple pictures, nicely set out, not to many words. Apparently these are the things that are most important in books when you are a kid. Miss 7 carted the book around for a whole week, sitting reading it now and then and giggling away to herself. And she even got quite upset when master 12 attempted to pick the book up one day and try to ready it....she was not finished reading it yet, so he had no right to touch it apparently (whether she was reading it at the time or not was irrelevant).
Warning this book may not appeal to some parents, but their children will still love it!! lol The Captain Underpants series of books are a fantastic price, designed especially with children in mind, and make the perfect gift for any child (even those kids who appear really serious to the world - because every kid needs something to giggle about, that is not serious and requires imagination).
We have just finished up this full colour version of Dav Pilkey's Captain Underpants and the Attack of the Talking Toilets. It took us three days to consume and to be fair, it's lucky that the first night and all the other nights have been school nights. Because as soon as we sat down to read it, the laughter filled the room from both me and my daughter. We were rolling about on the bed. It was only that I had to get my daughter to bed for school that I stopped each night. Though it was disappointing having to stop because the book is so good.
Pilkey is just fantastic. I really rate him as a kid's author. I have read a variety of his work, and it is always easy to read. It comes out conversational, without too much effort on the reader's part. Most of all it's gripping and full of "laffs". You can not help but giggle at the silly toilet humour and antics of George and Harold. He also breaks the 4th wall a lot, with comments like "they'll never let us get away with that in a children's book."
The drawings really come to life in colour and the pages are thicker and glossy. This made the flip-o-rama pages much easier to handle as well. The last book we got with the flip-o-rama accidentally ripped during some vigorous flipping. Here the pages definitely feel more hardy. As an added bonus at the end of the book, you get a Dog Man comic and some fun facts about the author which was really neat for me to read. I loved learning about how he came up with the idea of talking toilets. These books are so good! Re-readable plus! and I would personally purchase these, I have seen how much my kid loves them.
