Set in World War II England, C S Lewis' timeless adventure follows the exploits of the four Pevensie siblings - Lucy (Georgie Henley), Edmund (Skandar Keynes), Susan (Anna Popplewell) and Peter (William Moseley) - who enter the world of Narnia through a magical wardrobe while playing a game of hide-and-seek at the rural estate of a mysterious professor.

Once there, the children discover a charming, once peaceful land inhabited by talking beasts, dwarfs, fauns, centaurs and giants that has become a world cursed to eternal winter by the evil White Witch, Jadis (Tilda Swinton). Under the guidance of a noble and mystical ruler, the magnificent lion, Aslan, the children fight to overcome Jadis' powerful hold over Narnia in a spectacular, climactic battle that will free Narnia from her icy spell forever.

When I was a young girl my mum read me all the books and I loved the stories so much that one year, with my birthday/christmas money from my Great Uncle I bought a book that had the whole series in it, so naturally I was excited to hear this was being filmed.

Watching this movie is like diving into one of my favourite books, from the dreary London during war time to the countryside as brothers and sisters try to get along and enjoy what is a very tough time. That first step through the wardrobe by Lucy had me grinning like a loon and I loved everything that was shown in Narnia. I think everyone did a very good job acting and those playing Lucy, Susan, Peter and Edmund were bvery believable.

The special effects in this were really well done, all the mythical and magical creatures were fully believable. I loved the creatures and thought the bringing of life to them was wonderfully done, the only one that looked a little fake at times was Aslan, which was a shame but you can't get every detail right for every single person, so no huge biggie.

I really liked this, as do my kids (who are watching it as I type this), a good fun movie about good old Evil vs Good.
