I recently bought some of this Cous cous mix at the supermarket. I thought it might work out well as a side for dinner one night. I had never made cous cous before and was a little apprehensive about it. One day for lunch, while my husband was away I decided to bit the bullet and make up the packet.
The directions on this packet made it so easy. I just had to prepare a bowl of water, butter or margarine and then the cous cous mix. I stirred the mixture and then microwaved it for 2 minutes. Once it was cooked, I just had to leave it a little bit and then fluff with a fork. This was so easy to make and for such a small amount of effort, I got something amazing!
I put together a bowl for my youngest and myself. My eldest didn't want to try it, as she is a real sandwich girl. My youngest wasn't too sure about it. She played with it a bit and once some went into her mouth she enjoyed it. However, I think the texture made it harder for her to pick up. She is doing baby led weaning, so mostly finger style foods.
I personally loved this. I am a big fan of cous cous anyway. But the fact I could make this at home by myself was great and the flavour was delicious. You could get this to make a cold salad for summer BBQs or picnics. You could have this as a side with meat and vegetables. It is very versatile and I will definitely be buying it again.
We have couscous quite often in our house especially during the summer I find couscous salads to be a lot lighter than rice or pasta. I normally make it from scratch using my own flavourings and ingredients but I tried one of these packet mixes recently and really loved the flavour.
This has a nice savoury flavour too it with a hint of spice and it has little currants through it which I found to be really good addition. They added a nice level of sweetness to it, and I wish there were more in the packet as there were only a few. It is certainly packed full of flavour and makes a nice side dish with meat and salad or could even be eaten on it's own. I think it would be great at a summer barbeque.
The one thing I love about couscous is how easy it is to cook and this is no exception. All you need to do is add a cup of boiling water and a teaspoon of butter and cook in the microwave for two minutes. When it has finished cooking all you need to do is fluff it with a fork and leave it to stand before serving so it is definitely something you could make quickly and with little fuss when you had time restraints.

Rich and smoky, this relish will take your regular meat patty to a new level with its blend of spices and smoke extract. It's great on its own or blended with mayo to make a delicious BBQ aioli dip, extra delicious paired with hand cut fries.
