Product reviews...
I love the book "Room on the Broom" along with a lot of the other Julia Donaldson titles so was super excited to receive this DVD to review. As soon as the parcel arrived at my house I turned on the DVD player and started it up, my son was in his high chair eating breakfast but soon got distracted from eating. He loves cats an obsession so as soon as he saw the Witches Cat he was engrossed and giggling away at the cats antics.
The DVD follows the storyline of the book but you get to see the story brought to life in so much more detail. For example you get to see why the other animals want to leave on the broom with the witch and the cat like the bird is as green as can be and all the other birds are black, and the frog is clean whereas the other frogs are all wallowing in mud. So all the animals are a bit of a misfit and the kind witch feels sorry for them and takes them all in.
The animation is beautiful and really high details while keeping with the illustrations of the book. The dragon that seems to follow the witch throughout the DVD just keeping an eye over her adds quite a scary edge but still suitable for even the younger viewers. Some of the scenes with the witches special mixtures she makes in her cauldron are very eye catching and made my son's eyes pop as he watched the sparks and bangs.
It was quite nice how it was read the same as the story with a narrator telling the story as in the book. I absolutely loved this DVD and will happily watch it many times so thank you so much Roadshow NZ and KIWIreviews!
