A movie, about butter, I guess there have been movies about stranger things, but I wouldn't have thought that butter and the carving of it would be a sport.

Bob has won the Iowa State Fair butter carving competition every year for the past 15 years but his plans to win year 16 fall apart when he is asked to stay out of the competition so that other people can have a chance, but his very ambitious wife decides that she must enter in his place and win, to keep their name at the top of the board. She is then pitted against a young ten year old orphan who has just discovered her talents for the world of butter carving, oh, and throw in her husbands ex-mistress into the fold.

This film is rather odd but a really fun movie still with some rather funny bits (though there is a joke or two that falls just a little short of a decent laugh) and is full of oddball characters. If you like movies like "The Best in Show" and "Confetti" then this would be a good movie to watch, as it is similar in film style and humour.

This is a fun movie for when you've got a night off and just want to relax and have a laugh or two.

A movie, about butter, or to be more exact the highs and lows of butter carving as a competition. Bob has won the Iowa State Fair butter carving competition every year for the past 15 years. When Bob is asked to stand down, to give others a chance, his wife Laura (who is very ambitious) goes more than a little mad and decides to enter in herself, pitting herself against 10 year old Destiny, an orphan in a new foster home and her husbands very recent mistress.

I really enjoyed this film. It's a bit odd, and there's almost always going to be at least one joke that you don't like, but the actors are superb and there is a great range of actors in it. The young girl playing Destiny does a great job of portraying someone just muddling her way from family to family before finding something that she is good at.

The film flows well and it's a fun film about the extremes to which some people will go to win a competition. I'm curious to know if they were actually carving with real butter, and if so, who they got in to do it as most were very well done.

This is a fun movie, yes, a bit odd, but still worth the watch with some great acting from a wonderful range of people.
