Logitech Wireless Solar Keyboard - k750r product reviews

The solar-powered wireless keyboard that makes battery hassles a thing of the past in a streamlined, comfortable design.

Light-powered keyboard
It doesn't get more hassle-free than this. This keyboard charges itself whenever there's light - and stays charged for at least three months in total darkness - so you can say good-bye to battery hassles.

Only 1/3-inch thick
With sleek lines and a thin profile, this stylish, streamlined keyboard adds style to your workspace - whether you've got a laptop or desktop.

Feel-good typing
Treat your hands right with keys that feel good and make every keystroke comfortable, fluid and whisper-quiet.

Advanced 2.4 GHz wireless
So you can work or play in more places - like your comfy couch - the long-range wireless connection virtually eliminates delays, dropouts and interference.

Logitech Unifying receiver
The tiny receiver stays in your laptop. Plus, you can easily add a compatible wireless mouse or keyboard - without the hassle of multiple USB receivers.

Plug-and-play simplicity
Setup takes seconds - you simply plug the wireless receiver into a USB port on your computer and start using your keyboard right away without software.

Small steps, bright future
From the PVC-free construction to the fully recyclable box, this keyboard is designed to minimize its footprint.

Style, innovation and functionality collided to come up with this keyboard. With every key needed, including 12 configurable Function keys and full media controls, as well as a keypad. Everything a good geek could want in a keyboard. Unfortunately, this keyboard was not designed with gamers in mind, but I will forgive that because it uses the Logitech Unity transceiver, meaning I can have this keyboard for daily use and a more gamer-friendly keyboard for those times I feel like playing games. This is a great way to save on batteries.

One of the first things you should do when you get this device is to download the Logitech Solar App. It will not only prove invaluable in keeping track of the power levels of the keyboard but it can also give you a good indication of when the light around you is getting too low for your own eyes to be coping properly. It's a simple little app that sits on your desktop but I really think it's a bit overdone when it comes to the size. It eats up 256x600 pixels of your desktop which is a lot more than is actually needed to get the required information across. 256x150px would be more than enough if you didn't need the fancy animated dial graph.

What really impressed me about this keyboard the most wasn't so much the technology, as the engineering of it. It is very thin. VERY thin. And yet it doesn't bend or flex while you type, even if you are heavy-handed like me. Even with the rear support legs in place, the keyboard would only bend slightly when I push on the Logitech logo. For a keyboard that is only 9mm thick and weighs in at 757g it is surprisingly sturdy.

The biggest thing you really need to grasp is that this keyboard DOES have batteries, but it is so power-efficient that it needs only a small storage system and is always trickle-charging as long as there is light hitting the panels. Use it in a dark or deeply shadowed area and you will soon find it starting to flag. But on an average desk, in moderate sunlight for at least 3-4 hours a day, you will find this just keeps plugging along, doing what it does best - being a stylish-looking keyboard.

Overall, this is not by any means the cheapest keyboard available, but if you don't want wires, and you don't want to be spending downtime swapping or recharging batteries, then this really is one of the smartest choices on the market today. Bringing with it the best features, no fancy bells and whistles that you might use once a year if you even remember they are there, and the backing of one of the most well-respected brands in the industry, and you have something that will stay with you as long as you need it to.
