Ninja training continues for Jake, Ben, Pongo and Veejay, under the masterful eye of Sensei Lee...when he's not too busy eating ice-cream and watching beach volleyball on TV.

But will the Nerdy Ninjas be prepared for battle when a blood-curdling scream rings out from the forest?

My boys were sent this nerdy ninjas book for review. They are 11 and 12 yrs old and love a good read. Master 11, however is reading impaired so its hard to find a book that will hold his attention to the end, especially one that is not based on something true. However he happily read this one cover to cover and only needed a small amount of help when doing so. Master 12 has read it on several occasions now. They both enjoyed it and could be heard giggling away when they read it.

As with all the books that come through my home for review, I too like to read through them, and this one is rather humorous :) It is a quick read about a group of nerds who are sick of being so pathetic that even the bullies won't pick on them. They decide to become ninjas. It is written in a way that appeals to our young readers. The author has written the book as though he is one of the nerds, and I myself liked how when writing some of the bigger words but couldn't spell them, they would try a couple of times, cross the words out and settle for a much simpler word.

I definitely see the appeal for the younger audiences, especially with the spelling problems overcome by using easier to spell words, as young people (especially boys) often find spelling difficult, so it is inspirational to see an author incorporate this into their story. The writing is very witty, and the book is nice and simple which both my boys liked.

The price, size of book, and catchy cover are all appealing to both parents and kids. At $10 a book kids can even buy it with their pocket money and not be disappointed. Same goes for those looking for books for gifts or rewards, this ones perfect for that...a good read that wont break the bank.
