Product reviews...
We discovered these quite by accident when my mum sent my children a gift basket and included a box of each of the 3 flavours: strawberry, vanilla and chocolate. What a neat idea and at such a great price too. 20 individual little packets in each box, and the packets are choc full too, not just 4 or 5 in the bottom.
The boxes were a little harder to open that I initially expected, but once you get the hang of it, you do not tear it to shreds near as much as the first box. The individual packets are nice and easy to open, and the kids were able to do this with out any problems.
Out of the three flavours, the strawberry were our favorite, all round. Little puffed bear shapped biscuits, filled with a lovely amount of flavoured cream, and best of all the flavours are not to intense or over bearing. These are a fantastic idea for kids snacks and lunches and a now a regular addition to our shopping trolley. In comparison to most other snack pack products (biscuits or crisps) you most definitely get your monies worth and then some with these.
I recently started purchasing these for my daughter's school lunches. They are at the Warehouse in Strawberry and Chocolate flavour. I have not seen the Vanilla flavour on sale yet. What I love about them is that they are a nice sized snack. They are not too sugary sweet. They are easy to eat, and have a good cracker-like texture. I also love that there are 20 bags in a box making these really economical in a world of 6 packets per box on other lunchbox "essentials".
I did find the baggy hard for little fingers and my own, to break open. I have to put a little cut in the top every morning. Also I found the odd shape of the box they come in, meant that breaking into it is a bit hard. It never closes the way it is designed. Also the shape of the box makes storage a little harder than the normal rectangle boxes.
My daughter has tried both the chocolate and the strawberry. She is usually a big fan of chocolate anything. So it was not a surprise that she enjoyed the chocolate flavour. I found the biscuit part was a good balance to the richness of the chocolate syrup inside. The strawberry though was a clear winner and the one we have been buying over and over again. The strawberry is really creamy like flavoured milk.
I have seen M's Bear Biscuits at The Warehouse and had even asked my husband to pick some up when he was going there once and he forgot so the next time I went in I bought both the vanilla and strawberry varieties. Having tried these two I am keen to buy the chocolate too once the chocolate from Easter has disappeared from our house.
The one gripe the teacher and Australian blood in me has with these is they are called bears yet the picture is very clearly not a bear but a koala. My husband who was born and raised in Australia is always irritated when koalas are referred to as koala bears too. Without us calling these anything other than a biscuit my 3 year old daughter has been asking for koalas in her lunchbox.
I love that there are 20 tiny packets in a box. Each packet contains five bite sized biscuits that we all love. It is the perfect size for a sweet treat although I sometimes choose to have two packets. Since these are often on special for $2.99 (15c a packet) these are an economical snack to keep in your handbag.
These reminded me of the cigar shaped wafer biscuits you can usually only buy around Christmas. Both have a pretty tasteless biscuit but a deliciously sweet icing type filling. I also like that they come in a cardboard box unlike many other multI packs with are in a plastic bag which rips or falls over and you have packet through the pantry.
Writing this review has my craving for some M's Bear but I can't decide which. It will have to be the box I touch first. Yum.
I really like the packaging that these come in. You get one flavour per box, and the box is easily identified by the colour. ie. Strawberry is pink, chocolate is brown and vanilla is a creamy white. The designs are cute and eye catching and since it is a cardboard box, then I can recycle at least some of the packaging.
You get 20 individual packs, each little pack counts as one serving and contains 5 biscuits in each pack. For me, this is the perfect sizing for little hands, very easy to hold and the perfect amount for the kids, even better is that it is a perfect amount for my special needs child who eats a very limited amount, so one biscuit for me and four for her is perfect.
I'm not a huge fan of the flavours, but that's just me and the fact that I didn't find the strawberry flavour to be predominant, however, my older two children love this and would happily eat more that one packet in a sitting if I allowed them to. I found the chocolate to be the same, nice flavour but not enough of a punch for me, but the kids love it which is what matters.
It's a decent price, as on special it's only $2.99, a price I am happy to pay every now and then as I don't need to spend time counting them out or stopping the kids from fights over them.
