Becoming a big kid can be hard sometimes. For a young child it can be tough to give up a binky, learn to ride a tricycle or get a first haircut. With a story where Elmo remembers giving up his binky as the centrepiece, this release will feature stories that preschoolers can relate to, as well as giving useful suggestions to parents at the same time.
In the same way that "Elmo's Potty Time" was relevant for our audience, we hope that this title will help kids feel "they can do it" too, just like their good friend Elmo. As an added bonus, this title will feature a Bye-Bye Pacifier! animation and a new "Big Kid Song" sung by Elmo.

I was so keen to review this as we love Elmo in this house and have a lot of Elmo books and flashcards that my son (11 months) loves. The story on the DVD about giving up the binky (dummy) really appealed to me as my son loves his dummy so much and I worry it will be hard to get him to give it up.
In the story Elmo remembers having to give up his 'binky' and it gives ideas for parents that would help in getting rid of the dummy when the time is right. I liked the idea of the dummy fairy coming and taking the dummy and replacing it with a toy which is an idea I will definetly keep. Then when he is old enough to understand he can watch the DVD about giving up the dummy too.
Other stories that were on the DVD were getting a first hair cut and learning to ride a tricycle which are again stories that pre schoolers can relate to. I still remember my daughters first hair cut or even first three hair cuts which were torture until she realised eventually that the hair dresser wasn't going to hurt her. The stories are great for children in the pre school age to learn about becoming a big kid which can be hard at times.
My son is so active and doesn't generally stay still for longer than 5-10 minutes at a time but something about this DVD had him glued to the to the TV for pretty much the whole movie, I put it on while he was having his dinner and it kept him distracted enough that I managed to get a whole bowl of vegetables into him with none of the usual dramas. He was so engrossed in the TV that he just opened his mouth without even looking up from the TV.
My 10 year old even sat watching it with him even though she moaned about me turning Disney Channel off,and she sung along to the big kid song to her brother which made him laugh. This DVD will definetly come in handy to us when these topics come up like when it is time to get rid of the dummy altogether or when he needs to get his first hair cut so for that I really love this DVD.
