Product reviews...
I was excited when i got to try this, i have liked all the other products i have had the chance to review from this company so far. So why not shampoo as well.
Now I have used it a few times and the first time i put a small amount on my hand and rubbed though my hair I didnt tend to like it much. The next time i used it I used more than required and it bubbled up nicely for me. I had a nice smell to it and not overpowering either, it washed out nice and easy. Once my hair was dry it was good, but def not something I want to use on its own - has to be used with a conditioner. Without the conditioner my hair was knotty and hard to brush.
I have noticed since using it, my head isnt as itchy and peeling like normal, so i guess its doing a good job overall. If it carries on doing a good job I will look for this product in the supermarket.
I was pleased to get this as I had been looking out for it at several Countdown supermarkets with no success. I have recently been using an organic product in an attempt to quell my psoriasis which apparently can be aggravated by certain ingredients in shampoo and conditioners.
I wouldn't say that my scalp is 100% better but I have noticed over the few weeks of using this that my scalp is far less irritated than usual. I like the bottle and the lid is easy to open and shut. The shampoo consistency is quite runny so its hard to just use a little though which is all I need. I would prefer the consistency to be a bit more gel like so I don't use more than I need. This shampoo totally strips the grease from my hair. I never use shampoo without conditioner so can't say what this would do to my hair without it. But with the conditioner I am happy with this product.
I like that the shampoo and conditioner have different coloured lids so its easier to tell them apart. I am happy to continue using this shampoo and its a good one to use for the kids as well as it is natural. Because this appears to be helping my scalp I would continue to purchase it if it is stocked at my local supermarket but I probably wouldn't make an effort to purchase online.
When i first received this i thought the packaging was very understated and you would easily miss it at the supermarket, but on the other hand its a very clean image which to me is what Earthwise is about. The bottle size is fantastic, its large and has a nice stable bottom so doesn't all over in the shower or on the side of the bath. I think that the price reflects the type of product you are getting an in comparison to salon products its very well prices.
I was very wary of this for myself as i tend to use salon hair products, but was willing to give it a go. I was very interested in trying this for my children as one has very sensitive skin and i try to use all natural products with them. I washed my children's hair twice before I used this on my own hair, their hair came out smelling super fresh and silky. One of my boys has longer hair and combined with the conditioner was lovely and didn't need to be rewashed for a few days. One of the downfalls I found was that the shampoo comes out very fast and if you're not careful you tend to use a bit more than needed.
I straighten my hair everyday and its naturally very curly so overall it has a very hard life. When I washed the shampoo out i found my hair to feel awful, I'm finding it hard to put into words but the best words i can use is brittle an coarse. Another reviewer below me has suggested it to be 'squeaky clean' which I think sums up the feeling better. I was sure I was going to hate this all, despite loving the brand and their ethics. Once i had used the conditioner, and had given the shampoo and conditioner a few more tries, i really loved the overall experience. My hair straightens a lot better and stays straighter, perhaps this is due to the super clean natural shampoo Earthwise has created.
I guess the old saying "don't judge a book by its cover" applies in this case! I have grown to really like this product, but i still dislike the feeling of just using the shampoo before the conditioner gets on.
I love earthwise products and was keen to give this one a go as well. The first thing I noticed was the handy bottle design. It has a flat top and bottom, which means I can easily store it either way in the shower. This is so important to me because my normal shampoo has a skewed end, which means I always struggle to get the full value out of the bottle towards the end of its life.
I also loved the colour of the lid, heavy green. Why? Because it was different to the conditioner lid colour and the body wash. So even without my glasses on I could tell which bottle I was picking up before I got it close enough to my eyes to read. What a time saver! The shampoo itself was a nice scent. I could have sworn it was grapefruit as well. Quite a citrus smell to it. I really liked it.
The gel lathered nicely in my hair and I didn't need much at all. It stripped the grease from my hair so it felt squeaky clean. That's not a nice feeling as my hair mats in that state, but there are very few shampoos that make my hair feel great. My hair is after all, long, fine and heavily damaged. Plus I've recently had a baby so I lose hair all the time from the great moult going on. I did find I was losing less hair over the week since starting this. I also found I was getting less pimples in my hairlines.
Despite it not making my hair feel great, I would still buy this again. Teamed with the conditioner it did an amazing job. At this price and the effect it had on my hair (once dry), it is a great product.
I was so keen to try this Shampoo as I have such a sensitive scalp and no matter what shampoo I use it always irritates my scalp. I get quite severe dandruff and have yet to find anything that clears it. Some shampoo's I have tried irritate my scalp so much that it bleeds while other products that I have tried don't irritate my scalp but seriously damage my actual hair.
I have been using this for 5 days now and I am pretty impressed. When I applied it to my scalp it didn't sting which is great because most things sting my scalp and make it feel like it is burning. I have to do two applications as the first one doesn't really lather enough to wash the hair thoroughly but after you have done an initial rinse the second covering builds up a great lather and thoroughly cleanses the scalp and hair.
The Aloe Vera is quite soothing in fact when I have finished washing my hair my scalp feels quite refreshed so I feel like I can use it every day where as normally I would wash my hair every second day. I still have the dandruff but even anti dandruff shampoo's and extra strong coal tar solutions haven't worked to clear that up so I wasn't expecting this to. However as I have been able to wash my hair daily it has reduced the amount of dandruff build up I have.
I am going to continue to use this if I can find it at a supermarket near me because of the fact that it doesn't irritate my scalp and I can start only buying one product for the whole family rather than an expensive shampoo for me and a cheaper one for the rest of the family. My partner really likes it too as it doesn't have a strong perfume scent to it.
My girls and I all suffer from very sensitive eyes. This can make washing their hair a major mission. I usually use a kids' shampoo that claims to be no more tears and they can barely cope with that. I expected I'd be in for a battle with any other shampoo. I thought I'd try the Earthwise shampoo on them just to see how they went. My four year old was reluctant to try it but once it was on she didn't complain in fact I had to ask her to let me rinse it off. My younger daughter was happy for it to go on but made the mistake of adding soap to her hair so that irritated her eyes.
I like that it was a lovely clear colour and had a garden scent unlike the fake colours and smells other shampoos have. The fact that it contains all natural products was a bonus for me but not something I make a priority when selecting beauty products.
I would have liked it to be in an upside down bottle like the conditioner comes in. This makes it easier to get the last bits of shampoo out of the bottle. The other thing I didn't like was the price. It is slightly more than I would normally pay for a shampoo but I believe it is well worth it especially with how well it works with the conditioner. I will be stocking up on this when I see it on special.
