I have mentioned in a few of my reviews now that I love books that come with a CD - and this is no exception! And being the Topp Twins - such a funny pairing who have the perfect voices for this book - in fact the perfect voice for all of their recorded books I have heard so far. Whoever it is choosing what books to get the Topp Twins to sing is doing a fantastic job!

Do Your Ears Hang Low is a song that I remember very fondly from my childhood. I was into music in a big way so always loved singing little songs. I was quite excited to see this book advertised in the Scholastic catalogue and even more excited to see it on special for a great price. The pictures that accompany the words are great. They really do help to bring the story to life. The pictures are the one part that a child in an early childhood setting can understand so it is always important that the pictures are eye catching and help to tell the story. This book does just that.

One reason I love having a CD with a book is that it makes the book a little more interesting. Rather than the children sitting there listening to me read yet another story they can listen to the CD and learn to sing along. It is just like having a new teacher in the room - and the shiny new teacher is the most interesting thing around! It captures the attention of all of the children sitting on the whariki and holds their attention to the end. They find this one hilarious as it does move fast and sometimes I can't quite get to turn the pages in times - we are always in fits of laughter by the end and at least one child calls out "again!" A child wanting to hear a story for a second time is the best feedback you can have in my mind!

My daughter received this book last Christmas. I was struggling to think of what to buy her as she has everything imaginable and at the time was in a whole body cast so couldn't do an awful lot! At daycare who and her friends would sit for almost an hour at time listening to various different CD and story collections such as The Wonky Donkey, Theres a hole in my bucket, and Do Your Ears Hang Low? So as she loves books I decided to buy her this and several other books which come with CD's that she can sing along to.

She was very excited to receive her books on Christmas day wanting to read them and have the CD on as soon as she had opened them. This book like the others that come complete with a CD are firm favourites still, with us listening to DO Your Ears Hang Low? At least once each week.

This book really appeals to me daughter due to all of the fun animals that are on each of the pages, she loves to point them all out and re in act there sounds. Though she prefers to listen to the story with the CD playing she will happily have me read it to her, or else will sit with it herself and sing the song, making up all of the actions as she goes which she has learnt from daycare. Sung by the Topp Twins this is really fun to listen to and has a nice catchy tune to it, the words are catchy and easy for little ones to pick up on.

The cutest part about this book for me is the mirror at the back of the book, which your child can look into to see there own ears, my daughter loves this and spends quite a while admiring herself, and her ears in the mirror. Beside the mirror is written "Hey, Kid! You got the cutest ears I ever seen!" which is rather sweet my daughter likes to tell me she has cute ears hehe. Also at the back of the book is a list of facts about ears, though this isn't appealing to my daughter I enjoyed reading these facts myself, for example did you know "A cat has 32 muscles in each ear and each ear can turn independently".

Yet another great Cd book that has been released and at such an awesome price, lots of fun for home and daycare.

I have always loved the Topp Twins so have slowly managed to collect all of the books and cd's they have released. I was very excited to grab Do your ears hang low? as it has always been a favourite song of mine. I find the price of the book and cd is awesome as you often pay more than that for just a book alone.

When I got home to read the book I was really taken with the illustrations it each, each page is full of bright colourful funny pictures. Each picture has lots of little details to spot as well. I enjoyed singing the song as I looked through the book. The following day I took it into work to share with the kids and they loved it.

There is only one problem we found. The Topp Twins sing the song so fast it's really hard to keep up with turning the pages in time with the book and there is not really time to look at each page before having to flip to the next one. I struggled to keep up with turning the pages and the children found it impossible when they had the book and were often a few pages behind. It was easy solved though we made up actions to the song and dance to it instead and then look at the book afterwards.

My daughter was lucky enough to receive a copy of 'Do your ears hang low?' through her schools 'Duffy books in schools' programme. She was so excited as wehad missed out on getting a copy to review, and she is a huge fan of reading and singing.

We love the books that also include a CD, her favourites at the moment being Theres a hole in my bucket, and The Wonky Donkey so I knew she was going to love this too. I am a huge fan of the Topp Twins so could not wait to get listening. The CD is great, and as expected she loves it.

The book is a firm favourite already and even though there are some bigger words she does not know, with a little encouragement and explanation of the meaning of some words, she can easily read it alone. The pictures are also really cute and funny, which we both loved. And the mirror towards the back is fantastic and a nice little addition to the book. I really like that beside the mirror it has written "Hey, kid! You got the cutest ears I ever seen!" - it is a nice wee message for the child reading.

My favourite part of the book, being a parent and all, is the ear facts at the back. I never knew any of them lol and my 13yo son was less than impressed when I pointed out that wearing his headphones for an hour increases ear bacteria 700 times, especially when he loves his earphones and music so much, hehe.

Another fantastic book taking pride on her bookshelf. Two thumbs up for sure :)

I've always loved this song and sing it with the kids often, when I won this book I was excited, when I received it I was beyond happy to be honest, its such a cute book with awesome pictures and silly pictures, the kids think its so funny. It has some crazy lyrics put into it and makes it all fun with the CD to listen to as well.

The best part for my kids is the mirror at the end of the book, the kids really love looking at themselves making funny faces and trying to move their ears about. Why not have fun with the kids and get all silly with this fun colourful funny book.

Great Idea for a great old song... recommended to parents, teachers and anyone that like to have fun

We all loved the Topp Twins "There's a hole in my bucket " so I was excited to receive this book. My girls know this song from music and kindy so they sing this aloud at the top of their voices and do the actions. I like that the song is extended with some extra crazy lyrics. The illustrations are so funny in this book that this has to get a great rating just for the illustrations alone.

At the end of the book there is a shiny mirror so kids can look in the mirror at their own ears. The illustrations being funny do, I think, help children from getting hung up on their own appearance so much and its a great platform to talk about how everyone (even though the illustrations are of crazy animals) looks different. At the back of the book are a couple of pages explaining about ears and some facts about ears. I liked this and it just adds a different level to the book.

Having the CD included makes this book great value as not only do you get a fantastically illustrated book of a classic song but you also get to listen to the Topp Twins rendition of the song. Brilliant. And according to my girls its much better than listening to me sing...!

My girls love this book and I think it will be well used in our house. A brilliant gift.

I have always loved books that I can sing to the kids. It seems to grab their attention and they love to join in. This is a classic song. I remember it from my days as a Brownie. As with any classic there are lots of variations. There were some verses that I have only heard once or twice but I was able to do the actions (or at least my adaptation).

The illustrations are very bold with plain backgrounds and the children loved all the different animals especially the little mice that were tugging on the ears.

I am a closet Topp Twins fan so I was secretly delighted to see they had sung on the CD that accompanied this book. Their voices really suited the song. I did find it was very hard to keep on the right page of the book while the CD was playing as it was just so fast. The second track was supposed to be karaoke but I found it to be just guitar strumming and didn't know when to start singing.

As I had only borrowed a copy of this book I will be adding it to Santa's shopping list so it is a permanent part of our home library since we all love it.

This book is a follow up to the Topp Twins' "There's a Hole in my Bucket". We really enjoyed the bucket book and song, so I knew this book was going to be a huge hit with my daughter. I was not wrong. When she climbed into the car this afternoon she spotted it immediately. "What's that blue book, Mum?" I explained that I had been given this book to review and that she could help if she liked. She was very excited.

She is very much into animals, and the front cover has a fantastic picture of a dog with very long ears. My daughter was highly amused by this figure, and especially chuffed with the mouse character pulling down on the dog's ears. I liked the wonderful detail in the cover art, and the way the dog is shiny and feels glossy compared to the matt feeling of the blue background.

Inside the cover, there is a space to name the book. I like books that have this. They make a great place for people to write dedications to a child/children for birthdays or Christmas or just because. Inside the words are printed in a nice clear handwriting font. I found it very friendly to look at, while still be easy to read. The characters illustrated continue to amuse and delight. My daughter giggled at the antics of the animals through out.

The song is quite traditional (I knew the first part really well from childhood), but has it's own fun twists that I hadn't heard before. It flowed really nicely and was ridiculous in places, just as a children's book ought to be. Both my daughters and I enjoyed the story a lot. The CD included is great, though its a pity it only has two tracks, with the Topp Twins singing and the instrumental version. I grew up with the Topp Twins entertaining at fairs and on television. I enjoy their characterisations, and songs. Hearing them on the CD reminded me of being a kid too. $21 seems steep, but you get the CD and the book is a really neat easy read. This is definitely getting thrashed at my house.
