Cathedral - World Edition product reviews

Proud to promote NZ productsThe global game of strategy and skill

Imagine... a utopian global village, with 32 building structures from around the world.
In the game of Cathedral World, the Great Wall of China, the West Wailing Wall, the Wall of Marrakech and the Zimbabwe Ruins define the space where two opposing players vie for territory in which to strategically position their 14 architectural playing pieces. Whichever piece or pieces cannot be placed back within the village boundaries, determines the winning player.

The "People Piece" represents citizens from all four corners of the globe and is surrounded by buildings, monuments, statues, temples and mosques. Depending on the player's skill level and strategy plan, it can be used as either a neutral, or an extremely pivotal piece, changing the direction of play at every move. Based on the award-winning Cathedral game, this captivating edition is a winning mix of culture, architecture, history, strategy and skill.

Once play has ended, lift the global village to eye-level, turn it slowly to view the skyline and IMAGINE...

I am a fan of Cathedral in a number of forms; plastic with detail, wooden with no detail... but this was really something new.

The Cathedral itself is replaced by a black piece with 'all the peoples of the planet' represented. The remaining buildings, split into two teams of global landmarks, are really something to behold. From the Great Pyramid to the Statue of Libery, Big Ben to the Taj Mahal... all in miniature scale.

The game is the same, rules identical, strategies all in line... so if you have played any Cathedral, you'll enjoy the novel twist to a favourite game the new buildings lend.

Overall, an excellent upgrade for the dedicated player. :)
