The new boy at Cassie's school is gorgeous. Her crush is instant and all-consuming. But Ollie is confusing: one minute he's giving her his special smile, the next he's flirting with another girl.

If only Ollie was as easy to talk to as his best mate, Sam. But whilst Cassie sees Sam as just a friend, he has other ideas. Suddenly Cassie has a choice to make...

I picked up this book to read on Monday and quickly devoured it in two reading sessions. I knew the moment I saw the cover that it was going to be a nice easy read. The bright pink colour and font on the cover just said fun, junk-food-for-the-mind style book. Its like chick-lit for teens (and pre-teens).

This is definitely a girl's book! That said, it's also a really good authentic teenage girl's voice. So if you happened to be a teenage boy wanting to look into the mind of a teenage girl, this might be your chance. I found the lead character, Cassie, easy to relate to. She was different from me, in that she is the baby of the family, both her parents work full-time, and she has a sister. But the feelings and thoughts in her 13 year old head were not unfamiliar to my own thoughts at 13.

Your first crush is a big deal. This book covers the list of emotions you go through as well as the silly things you do. Cassie goes a little further than I might have. This makes it a fun, though sometimes very awkward read. There were moments when I was groaning because I could see where the action was headed - usually towards great embarrassment!

Another thing I liked was that the other teenagers, were pretty realistic too. The more popular characters were properly nasty. None of this "I'm just misunderstood" stuff. The adults, however, were written a bit strangely. There was a lot of subtext that I couldn't figure out. Still, you didn't need need to understand to enjoy the book for what it is, a good light read.
