I found this book a lot easer to get into than the first one. Also the mystery and suspense was better in this book. There are also a lot more "adult" theme activity going on between the 2 main characters and a lot more of an actual story line.
I was shocked at how fast I got through this book and how I just could not seem to put it down... I was lost in my own little world reading away on my little phone (digital copy). I also found the ending of this book a little more satisfying, It didn't just stop like the first one but it was left open for the third, I was able to wait until the next day to start reading the third because I felt happy in knowing what was happening in the story and didn't feel like it ended mid sentence.
Reading this book the second time also opened my eyes a bit more as to what was maybe going through the characters heads. Once again I really enjoyed this book but fount it better second time round.
The first book 50 Shades of Grey took me a little over a week but this took me closer to three weeks to read.
Found had its ups and downs could be on a really good story line and then she would revert to the drawn out sex scenes that dribble on for a couple of pages. I know most people are buying these books for the sex scenes but they done absolutely nothing for me. Found the lead character Anastastia was way to emotional and over thought everything.
The relationship between Christian and Anastastia to me was a very unhealthy one. I have heard it being described as romantic but there is nothing romantic about the way they need each other so severely there lives depend on it. I find it very suffocating what they are doing to each other and really unrealistic.
I do love reading the emails and they sign them off each time with Christian and his twitchy hand ceo makes you laugh.
I did enjoy aspects of it and found when I had finished a chapter would ask myself what was going to happen next but never to the extent of reading it first thing in the morning or having to turn the light back on just to find out.
I finished this book over a month ago and have not rushed out to buy the 3rd one still deciding if will or not the book just doesn't hold my attention the whole time. I don't think she is a very good writer and would prefer Bagshawe books over her. Would not re-read.
I read the first book in the trilogy, Fifty Shades of Grey, in record time. Once I finished it I knew I had to read more. I was too embarrassed to go into a store and buy mummy porn and too impatient to buy it online so I got an e-copy. This was the first book I had ever read on my iPad. I started reading it the same night I finished the first.
I didn't enjoy this as much as the first book probably because the first book had been such an eye-opener into that world. Fifty Shades Darker was more of the same but it did get more into their lives outside the bedroom.
I found this book very hard to put down. I had a couple of very late nights, followed by very grumpy days while I was reading this. The kids and housework were neglected but my husband certainly wasn't.
Once I finished reading this I was glad there was another book waiting for me as it left me hanging.
I really wasn't sure how i felt about the series when i engaged myself into James second book of the 50 shades trilogy....But once again i was surprisingly hooked. So much in fact, it took me two days to read. Addicted much?!!
Since finishing it i have read numerous other reviews to see what others say - the responses are so mixed .. and i want to be in the haters club, but the truth is E.L James is amazing and she has caused a world wide sensation.
There is more of a plot in this book, and you get to engage with the relationship workings more than the first book. Its hard not to be envious of Ana, but also be on her side with the mind games. You hear a lot of her inner monologue, which can drag on, but as many of the bits of book are repetitive (including the R18 parts) its all part and parcel of the ride we are taken on.
The end of the book came as a huge shock and i was a bit angry that it ended how it did, but never fear as there is another book to come! - and i started it the next day!!
