Personally I am not a fan of Spider-Man and have hated him since being forced two watch the movies with Toby Maguire in it. So when my daughter asked me to read this I wanted to watch the paint dry then have to read about Peter Parker. I was really surprised with how much I enjoyed it.

The pages are lovely and colourful and tell the story just as much as the writing. The story told of how Peter did not fit in with school and eventually got bitten by a spider and learnt the hard way that 'with great power comes great responsibility'. It is a really important story to be told and has a great morale behind it, that money and fame are not all that they are cracked up to be.

My husband is a huge comic book fan and loves the story and was sitting besides us listening and was interjecting and elebarating on the story, but without him around it was easy enough to follow and you can easily figure out what is going on. Both of the girls really enjoyed it and especially loved the pictures and were making me stop every once in a while just to talk about the art work.

If you hate or even love the story this is a nice fast book that will recapture the spider-man essence. It teaches lessons and reminds you that its better to be good then evil and always help those around you besides just looking after yourself. Great little well priced book.

Well, at first I thought that this would just be a bigger version on the smaller "spider-man: an origin story" book that I had read a while ago, but although some of the images were the same, the story was different. I found this version more enjoyable, and since it has less words than the first one it meant that this one didn't take that long to read, especially as I was reading fast with excitement.

Another reason why I enjoyed the shortness of the book was the fact that there were more images than words, and I've found that the pictures tell the same story in a better way, and the new images made it more detailed. The cover looks slightly better with it being enlarged, it brings out more of the details that I might have missed in the smaller version.

I like how on the inner cover the picture of spider-man looks as if he is climbing towards me, and the artwork throughout the book seems like it's painted, it's now a new style that I've come to enjoy, so I would like too see more books like the three that are currently in stock, I also see this as a form of resource that I can use for making my own paintings. The price is still good, it is only 50 cents more than the other version, strange coincidence...

Overall opinion, I think I will read this one more often. Enjoy.

This is a large hardcover book with fantastic glossy illustrations. My girls surprisingly love this. As with the soft cover book this book tells the story of how Spider-Man came to be. Being a larger book my girls prefer this version. The print is perfect for my Miss Five to read and the type face very clear. Some words are in bold or/and in colour. I think as well the size of the book makes it easy to have open on your lap to peruse the lovely pictures which Miss Four enjoys doing with her books at the moment.

I like how with this story you learn about Peter Parker and his life when he became Spider-man and how he was bullied, and was really a misfit, and becoming Spider-Man didn' t change that but it did teach him some valuable lessons. This book really helps you connect with Peter Parker and if you don't have any of the Origin Stories of your favourite Marvel Heroes then this is definitely one to buy. I also love the saying "with great power comes great responsibility". That saying is stuck in my head!

Definitely a great book with a lot of illustrations and a great story line with a brilliant moral underpinning. A fantastic buy for a young boy and possibly even for a little princess!
