The Cat in the Hat - Tales about Tails product reviews

What is better than a tale or two?
Tales about Tails from you know who!

It so happens The Cat knows a log about tails,
there are tails on beavers and even on whales!

You can see how a monkey's tail helps him climb high,
or a rattlesnake's tail warns of danger nearby.

When the kids want to perform a little dance,
they meet a bird named Tango, who teaches a prance.

I was very fortunate to be selected to review this DVD. I have never seen the TV show before so didn't know what to expect.

The DVD case said running time was 65 minutes so I thought we were sitting down to watch a movie. It is actually several episodes about 12 minutes long.

My girls aged 3 1/2 and 2 watched it with me. The length of the episode and its mix of humour, song and animals was perfect for my 2 year old. She had fun shouting out the animals as they appeared but lost interest halfway through the second episode. My 3 1/2 year old watched the whole DVD right through. She commented about the different things the animals did.

As a parent, primary school teacher and a home-based educarer I was looking at the educational aspect. Each episode taught us (yes I did learn too) about different animals in a fun way. I know much more about beavers than I thought from a children's cartoon. Another thing I liked was that the children always told Mum where they were going before they left on an adventure.

My husband was surprised that it wasn't in Dr Seuss rhyme but it did have Dr Seuss things like a thingamgigger (actually that's how my mum talks).

Product reviews for listing 2131: All Creatures Great and Small - The Complete Series 6 -  Type of Show: Comedy drama series

Product image for All Creatures Great and Small - The Complete Series 6Series Six continues the yarns into the '50s, as Herriot's (Christopher Timothy) practice expands and his home life with wife Helen (Lynda Bellingham) becomes more important to him. Yet the most unforgettable moments remain not only his treating of the sick animals of the Yorkshire countryside, but also the antics of the eccentric, hard-working residents of the county and his prickly partner, Siegfried Farnon (Robert Hardy).
