The bay was awash with stranded whales. Their high-pitched calls filled the air. Ben had to get help.
Based on the true story of a town whose people saved 120 beached whales.

Stranded is a beautifully retold true story of a pod of whales becoming beached in Western Australia. It begins whilst Ben and his dog Toby are spending a day fishing. Ben notices something is not quite right when Toby begun to bark madly and runs off towards the jetty. When Ben realises what has happened he runs home to get help.
This story really shows us how a community can pull together in times of need. Businesses closed and office workers all left their jobs so they could all help out in some way. Adults and children alike showed their compassion and determination.
The illustrations are gorgeous. They look like they have been drawn by pastels on canvas. Mark Wilson has definitely created superb work. The illustrations really set the mood of the story on each page.
I would recommend this to others as it is an original story, and wonderfully told.
