Told in a simple, staccato-style of text, this is the tale of a greedy duck who sticks his head where he shouldn't.
It takes the cunning of a rat to solve Duck' s problem.
Featuring an award-winning author/illustrator combination, Duck's Stuck is great fun to read aloud.

Ducks Stuck is one of my all time favourite books to read with young children. The author Kyle Mewburn has done a wonderful job and written a very humorous and fun to read along too childrens book. The ryhiming story captures your child's attention to the end of the book as well the as the bright well illustrated pictures by Ali Teo and John O'Reily. The illustrations are fun and also bring in the aspect of learning about the different animals that are shown in the story for younger children reading this book.
This book is a sturdy board book that I have found to be quite tough, handling rough every day use for a fairly long time in the Early Childhood centre I work at with children who range in ages1 to 3. As a teacher reading books numerous times a day I find this one enjoyable to read and re read.
I think this is a fairly priced book as it will no doubt become a night time favourite as it has done so with my son at home and within our early child care centre. It would also make a great gift for a first or second birthday.
Duck's Stuck is another wonderful book by the very talented Kyle Mewburn. Ever since my exposure to his work in Bo the Sheep, I have been searching out his work and reading it. From his Dinosaur Rescue chapter books to his other picture book titles, Kyle has a wonderful way with words.
This book is no exception. The words sometimes rhyme and sometimes don't. But the flow of the words is lyrical and fun. I loved all the farm animals. Mewburn manages to get their personalities out in a minimum of words. The way the chook investigates is just so a chicken. The horse is no nonsense, all business. The duck is a a bit simple, but then that's quite duck-like too.
The plot is something that has been done plenty of times by other authors. Its almost a staple of children's books. There's a problem and all the main character's friends come to help, but then help comes from an unexpected source. Brains win out over strength. This is a great moral for any child, because when you are little it's hard to imagine you are able to do things as well as bigger kids or adults.
The illustrations here are simple, and cartoon-like. The colours are bold and fairly natural. The price for this book is really good. I'm use to spending $16 approximately on a picture book, so $12.99 is quite good and its a decent re-readable story as well. The book comes in soft cover and as a board book too which gives you some options as a parent or a gift giver.
Duck's Stuck is a story about exactly that, a duck who got stuck somewhere it shouldn't have.
This story is very cleverly told. It is great for children who are learning to read as the sentences are simple. eg. "Yummy grain" Duck quacked. Stuck his head through a crack. Duck ate and ate...Then ate some more, piling grain on the floor."
The words are bold, well laid out and easy to read. The illustrations are big and very attractive.
My 3yr old daughter's reaction to this story was "Where's Duck's head i can't see it anywhere??" Ella was intrigued with this story from the start to the finish, and immediately asked me to re-read it once i had finished it.
The book is in board form, so is great for durability in young hands. I think the price is a fair price too. I would definitely recommend this to others or buy as a gift for someone.
This book is excellent. Its a 26 page book made out of hardwearing thick cardboard pages. The artists Ali Teo and John O'Reilly have done an excellent job with the pictures. Bright colours, and very well done pictures. Hilarious storyline by Kyle Mewburn. This book has a rhyming storyline. My daughter enjoyed this book. I thought for the size and look that it was excellent for the price. I recommend this book to people with little ones.
