Product reviews...
Being a family that tends to have a large number of rugs and woollen blankets that take up a large amount of space I was eager to see what sort of a space saving could be made using this storage bag.
So I grabbed as many rugs and blankets as I could find and proceeded to attempt to pack as many as I could into the available space. Making sure that everything was folded nicely I was able to pack in about 3 large rugs and 4 single blankets. The next step was closing it, but after workign out how to attach the zip clip I was able to man handle it closed. Then out with the vacuum, with a bit of sucking and a bit of manual squashing to remove any excess air, we ended up with something that was a decent bit smaller that it's original size, and it makes it alot easier to stack as well.
We have three beds in use at any given time here, and we like to have three sets of bedding for each, and then double it to cover winter weight and summer weight. Adds up to a lot of bedding. Means a lot of cupboard space. We always have trouble changing the bedding because all that cloth tends to be unstable or wedged in too tight.
That's where these bags come in real handy. Each of the "large" bags is big enough to hold a king sized duvet and two sets of sheets. I even managed to shoehorn in the pillowcases. This was a bit of an effort getting it all in but once it was loaded the bag was stuffed to the seams.
Zipping it shut with the supplied removable zipper clip was simple, once I figured out how to attach it in the first place. Clearer instructions would have gone a long way to making this easier, but it comes down to this basic instruction: Push it all the way on and then zip it up.
The rest is simple. Apply the vacuum nozzle to the valve until all the air is out (giving the bag a massage helps to scare any air pockets loose too) then seal the valve with a twist.
All in all, this packs away perfectly, is amazingly easy to use, and saved us enough space in our linen cupboard that for the first time in 2 years we can fit all the linen in the cupboard at the same time! Simply awesome. Rar!
You know what it is like. In winter you get out the extra bedding needed to keep you warm throughout the coldest part of the year only to find that it smells musty from being in storage for three-quarters of the year, then at the worst possible time of the year you have to wash them, dry them before using them. This often ends up being an expensive exercise because you have to use the laundrette to dry them. So effectively, the washing and drying at the height of summer was wasted.
So, enter the Vac-Pac bags. Nice clean bedding can be folded up, put in these bags and with the aid of a vacuum cleaner, you can suck out all the air keeping the bedding (or your winter clothes) in perfect condition until the time when you next need them - free from musty smells and away form those horrible beetles that munch holes in anything and everything. The bonus of this, means that the duvets and blankets pack down into a smaller space for easy storage.
With such a large range of bags available you pretty much have everything covered, and when things are simple to use and are exceedingly effective, it makes it a joy .
