Viking Blood is a great story on how the Vikings lived. It tells of their many powerful Gods, their lives and their battles during raids on the Monasteries to take gold and riches back home with them.
Tor Scaldbane is the main character involved in this story. It starts how it ends, in the forest with Tor and Old One Ear the Wolf, with Old One Ear being defeated.
Tor vividly retells how their longboats were built, and how they worked. They were a great masterpiece as they were able to sail in the seas and also in the rivers.
Whilst reading this book I really felt like I was at one with the characters. I felt Tor's pain when his hand was sliced off during battle. And I felt his fear whilst he was alone with Old One Ear. It was a tense read whilst he waited for someone to maybe come to his rescue. Luckily someone did. Ragnar.
This is definitely a book worth reading again. The story is very detailed, with a timeline at the end of the book for you to make references with. There are also great pictures which help you imagine the scene of where they lived and what the longboats were really like.
I look forward to more of the series of the "My Story" books.
