Life in Cold Blood product reviews

David Attenborough's Life in Cold Blood is the final chapter of his epic overview of life on earth.

Reptiles and amphibians ruled the world for nearly 200 million years and today there are still over 14,000 of them. Some are huge, the deadliest creatures on earth. Some are tiny, among the strangest to be found anywhere. Together, they not only outnumber mammals or birds but in their colourful variety and extraordinary behaviour, they far surpass them.

Life in Cold Blood traces the story of their evolution and overturns the myth that these creatures are just primitive killers. Using state-of-the art filming technology - including ultra-high-speed, thermal, miniature and onboard cameras - Attenborough reveals the intimate lives of the cold blooded and discovers the secret of their success.

Life in Cold Blood features a host of amazing TV firsts including wild rattlesnakes hunting, anacondas giving birth underwater, a male frog "giving birth", a mother caiman leading her creche of babies to safety and semaphoring Panamanian Golden Frogs. David also has a close encounter with a spitting cobra.

This two-disc set contains all five episodes from this sensational series as well as five 'making of' featurettes, that reveal the fascinating stories behind the amazing animal action.

Once again Sir David Attenborough brings forth a stunning series of looks into the lives of those that share this planet with us. 2 discs of stunning footage, thought-provoking narrative and illuminating commentary will keep you spellbound for hours.

My 8 year old son was entranced, sitting quietly in front of the screen for up to half an hour at a time... for him, that's something pretty impressive. It was impressive evidence of just how well Sir David puts the information scross that my son was still spouting facts and information back at us days later.

I loved the scene with Sir David and the spitting cobra... quite dramatic, but handled in his usual style.

Overall, by far one of the biggest "must have" docos, and an essential part of the whole "Life on Earth" series. If you want a great way to educate yourself, or your kids, about the reptilian tenants of this planet, then this is by far the set you should be buying.
