The Otterbox..... First impressions were "if this doesn't protect my valuable Treo 750v I don't think anything will."
This robust hard cover case is quite something to look at. Solid construction protects the screen well with a built in screen protector, as well as a clear hard plastic flip cover. My Treo was easy to install into this case with one simple clip on the back. Once it is snugly fitted into the case it does add to the overall size quite a lot and I sometimes find it hard to slide into a pocket. However, the case does come with an optional belt clip and a replacement clip for the back of the case so that you can attach the case to the belt clip.
It gives you access to the IR port, camera, volume controls and of course the keyboard. With a flick of a rubber flap on the bottom it also gives you access to the charging and headset ports. The camera has no obvious reductions in quality when taking pictures through the camera window. This hardcase gives you peace of mind especially when you leave it on your coffee table and it's suddenly pick up by a friend's two year old who takes off with it and it is dropped a couple of times- no gasps or minor heart attacks with the case protecting the valuable Treo.
A couple of things I noticed when using the case is that it does add to the weight so make sure you're wearing a belt so that your trousers don't end up around your ankles. One thing I didn't like and could be easily improved is when using the keyboard in low light and with the backlight of the Treo on, it is very hard to see the 0-9 keypad, these alpha numeric keys have a blue background with black lettering and are almost impossible to see therefore making it difficult to type a message. This could be rectified by changing the blue background colour to something a more contrasting colour such as yellow or orange or something bright.
Overall this would be an essential accessory for a builder, sparky, plumber or other tradesmen. Also, the sporty person, recreational fisherman, camper or tramper could find it useful.
And don't forget how useful it could be for possible parents of toddlers (or the paranoid owner that wants to protect their PDA that they spent their life savings on).
It's a great piece of mind for me when I go out fishing at the wharf or on the rocks knowing that if I do drop my Treo when it's in this case I'm not going to be kicking myself afterwards.
