The 2g SD card met my expectations. I copied two gig (640 photos) and it took 8 minutes. The SD card is an acceptable size, not to small to be easily broken or lost but also not too small to be an annoyance. The 2G card is about mid range in capacity but perfectly aceptably for use in a digial camera. I shot 640 photos on the card, with my canon slr at 6.3 megapixels. The transfer rate of 8 minutes is acceptable for my professional use. Sizewise I expect the capacity to be bigger in the future but the case and the card itself seem to be strong and met my tests of dropping and bending.

In a day and age where media storage cards are getting physically smaller and digitally bigger, where devices are becoming more like electronic Swiss army knives with phones, pdas, cameras, gps, audio and video players and... what next... built in... removable storage cards are becoming more and more important to our technophilic day-to-day life.

With DVD players and even car stereos now having USB and media card slots built in, it's even more important that anyone who wants to be 'online-enabled' should have some form of fairly-common storage in their pocket somewhere. Personally, since my Palm Treo, my digital camera, my laptop and my car stereo all take SD, I make sure I have at least a couple of cards stashed within quick reach at all times. I have been caught well-prepared on a number of occassions that have led to paid work because I was the right man with the right tools, in the right place at the right time, and on at least two occassions I beat out the other hopefuls simply because I was the only one who had a 2gb card tucked into my phone's holster when the files needed to be moved were 1gb+. (So you see, there are times when it is socially acceptable to say "I won because mine was bigger that the other guy's."Wink Icon).
At this price, it's a fairly good deal, and prices are falling regularly. if you are reading this review again in 3 months time, I can fairly safely bet that you'll be able to get this for less, or bigger for the same money... so always be sure to shop around. When you do though, be SURE you buy a quality brand like SanDisk and not a junk brand for a third of the price. I have seen a couple of nightmares on that score. A client had just presented me with a valuable contract job on a cheapo SD card they bought earlier that week at a local retail electronics shop for about $30. Since I was on the phone with the printery, he offered to copy the files to my laptop for me. I gave him the thumbs up, and a -glurk!- look when I saw the cheap card, and had to hold back a chuckle at the look of utter dismay on his face as the card's casing split open, the guts snapped, and ruined the card full of client data.
He was so mortified, I just had to 'Go that extra mile' and I gave him one of the spare SanDisk SD cards I keep in the laptop bag for emergencies... "...with my compliments, so you don't have to worry about that happening again, sir." Needless to say, that client has stuck with me loyally since that day, and I have more than made back the cost of the card, which still works 100% more than a year later.
Overall, this is a great little card, cheap enough to have a couple on reserve for emergencies, multi-use enough to be a potential job-saver, and quality enough to last. The only thing that stops this card from getting a better score: the capacity is now at the bottom end of the scale by most standards. This actually makes them great as potential throw-away promotional gimmicks I think... Sure they aren't the fastest cards on the market... but at this price, you can't expect everything, can you?!
